The thread I believe is about tongue piercings in general, which are almost always (as in, to date I've never seen contrary) straight bar bells with a flat end under the tongue and a ball at the top. A ring, as in a complete circle, would be an ungodly pain in the ass to have.

One of the plus sides of a tongue piercing, and I think the reason so many people get them, is that they're so easy to hide. There is also the fact that it makes kissing and oral interesting. In spite of the stereotype, a lot of different types of people get tongue piercings. My boyfriend has a tongue piercing, though he usually only keeps it in at night or during aforementioned activities because it still tends to get in the way when eating. A friend got her tongue webbing pierced, though I have no idea why anyone would want to do that one since there's no practical use and you can't even really see it.

Personally tried tongue piercing, but I had issues with swelling, possibly an infection of some sort from using too much mouthwash, and my job was retail and required lots of talking, so all things considered, I took it out. Might consider it again at some point. I'd really prefer a nostril, eyebrow, or labret piercing, but none of those are really an option right now because they are visible and my workplace would not appreciate them. I've really enjoyed my other piercings though.

MY boyfriend has his pierced but he never has it in. He put it in when we first started dating for...you know, but after a few weeks he took it out. It was definitely interesting for THAT sort of activity, and I think it looked good on him, but then again I think everything looks good on him so I'm kind of biased. As I've mentioned before-on principal I think it looks dirtbag.

PS-I fucking hate it when people spell it "tounge". That's pronounced "tunj".

I like tongue piercings, I think they're pretty neat. I wouldn't want one myself, though, for two reasons:
1) I play flute and having a piece of metal in my mouth could screw with my tonguing.
2) I don't want people thinking I'm a blowjob slut, considering that I'm borderline asexual.

I really like the tongue jewelry that looks like little pills. Does that mean I have a repressed raver deep inside my psyche?
