I think I may have a cracked rib, but I wont have any health insurance until the end of the month so I can't afford to get it checked out. It doesn't hurt when I sit still, just when I move into certain positions and when I breath really deeply so maybe I just have a deep tissue bruise and it will heal fin on its own.

I know, I just don't have the cash to get a doctor to look at it, Chuck said he will take a look at it when he gets done with classes (he is a PT major and an EMT) and see if it looks serious and she can tape me up if need be, he can't do an x-ray or anything like that but I can tell that if it is cracked then it isn't more than a hairline fracture so all that a doctor would really do is tape me up anyway.

Eh I had one before that I never had checked out and that ended up being fine (I got thrown off a horse and into a fence, since my mother had told me that I wasn't allowed to continue riding if I got injured I just pretended that I got the wind knocked out of me and nothing more, which in retrospect was really dumb of me), I just wore an ace bandage until it stopped hurting. If this one starts grinding or something then I'll suck it up and dig into my savings to see someone, but for now I'll just see how things go.

Woot all checked out and he said that it is only a bruise so while I will be sore for a bit it will be fine and I wont need a doctor.

I hate people who dont have the balls to call someone out on a lie, when that lie involves them claiming someone was racist.

I can't believe you have to pay to get a possible broken bone checked out O.O . Or anything for that matter. All you have to pay for here is the pescription. And that's about £6 something per medication ( though some strong medications such as cancer drugs like Tamoxifen ect and some heart medications are more expensive ) an that's it.

I know, for some reason Americans are just opposed to socialized health care so we don't have it, once the insurance kicks in I'll still have to pay but it would only about about $15.

I screwed up my knee somehow, so I limped across the stage at graduation today.
On the plus side, I found out I have insurance until I'm 22.

Yeah 22 is when mine cut out as well (I'm pretty sure that is the standard age at which students can no longer be covered under parental insurance), I would have already has insurance but I got a new diagnosis less than 90 days ago and in order to qualify for a rate I can actually afford with decent coverage I have to wait that 90 days, thankfully that will be over soon.

Does that mean that you would be without cover if your parents didn't have any?

Are there provisions for children whose parents have no money or whatever?
And dammit I think I'm needing a trip to the dentist.

There are some free clinics, the waiting time just tends to be ridiculous and they tend to be quite understaffed. There are also a lot of doctors who charge on a sliding scale, meaning that they will have different prices based on the parent's income, I know my pediatrician would knock the price down as low as $30 for a visit but that isn't required by law or anything, there are just doctors who do it out of the goodness of their hearts. Most medical schools also have the equivalent of free clinics but you see a medical student instead of a full doctor, though they do have advisers they can go to if it is a difficult diagnosis. ERs are required by law to treat everyone who needs it (I'm not sure what qualifies as need though) and then after you are treated they will help you to set up a payment plan. All that considered it still sucks to be uninsured in the US.
