I guess this is true.

Still, shouldn't they have a chat section?

I just can't think of your line of thought
"I can text a friend. Or I can open a thread in some arbitrary forum and publicize how inane my conversations are!"

"I can ignore some people who are just talking in a thread. Or, I can come in to their thread and post words that are unnecessarily uncommon to make me sound smarter."

You know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's better to use words that you are 100% sure people will know to get your point across. If not, you just look like an asshole.

Not to sound offensive. I don't have a problem with it, since I do it myself.

I must admit, before tonight I have never heard the phase "unnecessarily uncommon" before.
Bravo Zack.

Seriously, what word could possibly be uncommon enough that people don't get it?

I'm just saying.

I've honestly never heard the word 'inane' before. Plus, what you said was tricky on the tongue. It's best just to type the same way you talk.

Inane is a really common word, I think I learned it sometime around 5th grade. Also this place isn't for people to have one-on-one conversations, I'm not sure if the rules have changed since I joined up but that used to be listed among them...then again when I joined you didn't need a certain post count before you were able to send PMs and a convo like this would have been expected to take place via PMs and not on the boards.

Then maybe you should stop wasting gnet's bandwidth with your bullshit and start clawing your way to a third grade reading level. I suggest "The Bailey School Kids in Dracula Doesn't Drink Lemonade".
