I lost my faith...
Hello fellow G-netters.
I needed to whine to someone who understands me, at least a bit.
Recently, I have lost my faith in humanity.
My brother and I were assaulted a few weeks ago, I wasn't hurt, but his nose was broken.
From then, I have been seeing so much hate and so much despair.
People who are judged for being different, statistics of how many homosexuals were beaten up in the Danish capital, statistics of violence, violent deaths, statistics, statistics, more statistics, the need for freak security all around, the danish gang war, stuff like that.
On top of that, I saw some videos and pictures from Iran.
All of this together has made me lose the faith in humanity alltogether.
I wonder if things will ever change.
I just needed to vent some of all this.
Kind regards,
- Dennis. (Yup. That is my name.)

Humanity hasn't changed much since we climbed out of/were formed out of the primordial ooze. Sure, there's a lot of fighting and hatred, but there's also a lot of good too.
I'm sorry you two got attacked, though; that really sucks. Are you going to press charges?

I personally believe that, as a whole, Humanity will always be Humanity. However, I also believe that each one of us has the choice to either make things better or worse.

Volunteer, it will either restore your faith in humanity or shatter it forever, either way you know that at least you did something to help others.

Humanity and its social structures are artificial, just a way to trap others into a life style some one else chooses. Just like organisms it evolves over time (sadly human evolution has been slowed if not halted by our intelligence), but it will never be perfect. Middle Eastern society has ruined that part of the world forever, their religions and beliefs clash and to quote Axel Rose- "Everybody's fighting for their promised land." So forget faith in humanity, just learn to tolerate it, though I do agree that when it knocks on your front door (or face in your brother's case) it is nearly impossible to shake off. So in the end there are two choices: be passive and let it go, or revolt. For your safety I recommend being passive and continuing to vent on forums such as this.
Just my thoughts, sorry about your misfortune.

Actually, humans are social group animals, like primates. As with any social group animals we're often very protective of those we see as being in our group and violent towards those that we see as not. Just a matter of who one sees as being a part of their group. For some of us, the ones that are pretty accepting of anyone, everyone is "one of us". Then there's the asses like the people who attacked you. Nothing's going to change until everyone realises that we're all in this fucked up mess called life together.

To a certain extent our intelligence is devolving us. Look at what antibiotics and antibacterial products have done to our immune systems. That and medications that allow genetically defective babies to not only survive, but go on to have children of their own. Not that it is any of our places to judge who should be allowed to live and who should be left to die. Just pointing it out.

Once anyone deals with that they get scared because they begin to sound like Hitler. He had some sense, but it was way overboard.

Sorry to hear that. It goes back to what I was saying in an earlier post on this thread except, to go a little further, not only do we treat those not of our social group badly, we seem to need the "other" to keep cohesiveness of our social group. Because there has to be a "them" for them to be an us. I hope, as a species, we can grow past that. Though I have a feeling the only way we'll unite as humans is if we find an "other" among the stars.

Or snap off from becoming frozen.
Anarasha, put your faith in the higher being or in indiviuals who can be kind to others despite their imperfections.
Kindling faith in Humanity will only lead to disappointment.

You've got to hug the fire.
If you've lost your faith in humanity over this, then tragedy has defeated you with minimal effort.

I agree with that viewpoint. Deciding who lives and who dies already before birth is, in fact, nazi thinking.
And everyone, thank you for listening to my whining :P
I'm in a far better mood today.
I probably won't ever trust in humanity again, but that's how it is.

No it isn't.
And on the other hand, Voodoo, what the hell are you talking about? Even seen objectively where the fuck could Hitler have made sense?

I'm wondering why the fuck you would have faith in humanity to begin with. That's just asking to be let down.
If you want to avoid disappointment, have faith that Saw 6 is going to suck.

Gothicus - I have never in my life seen a Saw movie, and never will.
I am not into the whole have-to-severely-hurt-myself-still-to-die-in-a-dark-and-closed-dungeon-theme.
I guess I shall just put my faith in myself.

I still don't get why you lost faith in humanity just because someone hit you and your brother.

Yeah, that does kind of confuse me. There's far more better reasons.
Saw is good if you just feel like watching some people get mutilated. I like it.
