Alright, I've finally made a drastic change to my diet: under no circumstances shall I eat or drink soda, candy, junk foods, or anything containing artificial sweeteners. Amazingly this change was inspired by King of the Hill, the episode where Bill gets diabetes and Bobby is forced to eat health foods.

Be careful doing something that drastic in the beginning.

It's not the beginning, I've already lost thirty pounds, now I'm trying to get past a road block. Hopefully this step will cut my dependency on sugar.

Try adding some light weight training into your workouts.

Duane, if my muscle mass increases any more I'll have to paint myself green and start ripping my shirt off when I get annoyed.

Honey most people here would not object to that.

I've dropepd three pounds, so I'm 6 pounds away from being back to where I was when the weight loss happened, which is 139. I am pathetic. I never feel satisfied with my meals and am therefor always searching for things to eat. I never get the chance to go shopping at the grocery store because I never have any money. Somehow it all disappears and I don't understand why. I think if I had better foods when I did eat it'd prompt me to eat less.

Ps I thought I was going to get fired a few nights ago from making a huge mistake at work so I scarfed down an entire party sized bag of craisins. Prolly not the best, but I did get 3 full servings of fruit!

Miss Juice, I would advice you to the opposite of your current diet. Eat normally, three meals a day with 1 snack per day. Also, go to a dietist and ask for foodproducts with (forgot the English word) filling Fats (?). The current diet of most Western countries consists of food containing large amount of sugar and/or things that give a unsatified feeling. A scheme so you would eat more, and therefore buy more from the producent, if I may add.

Like I said, keep it on 3 meals a day, and 1 snack. Walk as much as possible, not running or jogging. Those two will only wear you out and make you hungry.

Most ussefull advice; Food is not your enemy. Diets don't have to be a hard thing.

Try to eat less processed food, for example for some breakfasts I eat a couple of raw carrots and an apple. Also, try to drink a glass of water before and during your meal as it will leave you feeling full/satisfied for longer. Most of the time when your feeling hungry is because of the fact that you are in need of fluids, not solids.

I don't Duane. I do not lift weights in a gym or at home because I lift heavy wooden pallettes and huge boxes at work. I have no idea how much they weigh, but it takes two of the other women to lift one and even then they struggle.

I walk 3 1/2 miles home everyday at a fast pace .I no longer jog unless I get a lift home from work as walking that far at that speed is exhausting ) And now I have my Legs Bums and Tums class ( which kills me but works more muscles than jogging alone )

My legs and arse are rock solid, so are my arms ( but wth a layer of fat over them ) and my stomach does show definition beneath the fat. I have a slight infection that needs to bugger off and then I can go swimming on Saturdays.

I was just about to suggest swimming as it helps tone muscles and burn fat but unless you are really pushing yourself it wont build much bulk so I'm glad to hear that you are doing that, sorry to hear about the infection though, I hope that clears up quickly.

Try cutting back on protein a bit, but don't go over board just limit your protein intake to two servings per day, as protein helps you to build muscle which you don't seem to want to do, I recommend having it with your breakfast and lunch as that will fuel you during the day and you don't really need slow burning fuel at night.

Actually, you need your slow burning fuel at night. More protein at night, like an 8oz glass of lowfat milk or a smudge of PB on Ezekiel bread or a couple apple slices before bed keeps your metabolism steady on the protein and fiber instead of burning out on carbs and making you wake up hungry and head-achey and running on empty.

Your AM and mid-day meals should be more carb heavy to fuel your day with the quick energy that you are currently using, and taper off at night and have your evening be more protein heavy to slowly sustain you while you sleep.

This thread has a ton of great ideas in it!

I lost somewhere around 18/19 lbs when I went off to college, which I guess I'd attribute to probably not healthy eating, but the fact that any time I needed groceries I'd walk the 6 miles to the store. That and living on the fourth floor ov a dorm with no elevators. I honestly think it was just exercise that helped me, because I'd have pizza and chicken and stuff thats not exactly helpful. But pretending you dont have a car and forcing yourself to walk places is extremely useful.

oh and I use http://i.treehugger.com/files/th_images/Poweriser.jpg alot

The most effective diet I ever tried was last summer, when I didn't eat anything after 4 p.m. Until then, I could eat pretty much anything I wanted (provided it was healthy food, with few exceptions) and I would still lose weight quite fast. It's hard the first 3-4 days, but then you get used to it and it feels weird to eat after that hour.

I recently tried not to eat sugar and bread at all, and this was effective, too. After a while, you feel like you don't even need it, but the downside is that you can't really make exceptions, because then the cravings start coming back and it's difficult to go back to not eating sugar.

I've never been a fan of physical exercise (I only exercise about 5 minutes a day and, besides that, simply walk a lot), but somehow I manage to keep my weight under control only by watching what, when and how I eat.

You should never hunger yourself out. This will just cause the Jojo effect.
Try eating a big breastfest, a midd lunch and a small evening meal. That's enough to keep a good balance.

Bad idea, to be completely honest it is even worse for you than just not eating and doesn't even work as well.

Do you have the same problem with liquids? If not then for now drink Ensure or something like that to keep your body fed. Also try eating in really small portions and get yourself some professional help by talking to a doctor or a therapist.
