Music magazine survey.

I have to give people a survey to fill in about a new magazine I am to be making for my media studies project. If you could copy and paste and then answer these questions, I would be very grateful!

1)Have you ever or would you be interested in buying a magazine based on gothic music and fashion scene?

2)If so, what would you or what do you like to see in it?

3)How much, roughly, would you be willing to spend on the magazine?

4)If there was to be a free CD attached, what tracks would you like on it?

5)What other (if any) products would you like to recieve free with the magazine?

6) How often would you want a new issue of the magazine to be released?

Thanks for your time x

1. Sure, if it was any good.
2. New bands, introduced in the "If you like ____, try _____" type format (I always find interesting music that way), ideas for customizing your clothes, maybe a list of where to get cool stuff cheap (since not everyone lives near kickass outlets and thrift stores)
3. Around 3-4 bucks, same as I'd spend on most other magazines... maybe up to 6 if it was really good.
4. New ones... I could discover a new band that way. I've already got access to tracks that I -know- I like, so why not some I've never heard and might fall in love with.
5. Maybe some funky stickers, some kind of D-I-Y design stuff like iron-on transfers, patches, etc... I'm trying to think fairly flat here. Some kind of little makeup sample, maybe.
6. Every month or two.

1)Have you ever or would you be interested in buying a magazine based on gothic music and fashion scene?

Yes!

2)If so, what would you or what do you like to see in it?

Reviews on bands and cds. Clothes wise: Perhaps places to buy said clothes. Maybe certain theme weeks (like cybergoth...something to that tune). And maybe even patterns to make said clothes.

3)How much, roughly, would you be willing to spend on the magazine?

Preferably about 5 bucks.

4)If there was to be a free CD attached, what tracks would you like on it?

A variety of tracks from the bands that would be in said magazine.

5)What other (if any) products would you like to recieve free with the magazine?

Can't think of anything right now.

6) How often would you want a new issue of the magazine to be released?

Monthly but bi-monthly would be fine with me.

Only thing I can think of refers the the availability and distribution of said magazine.

Where is it to be available? If limited to a state, then it would be great to have something like a free-drink voucher for some club-night in Detroit, but what if you're buying it in Buffalo?
If national, the mag should obviously give something for everyone (like discounts on live concert prices for some tour of some band being promoted.)

I have nothing against Hot Topic. Most GOOD mag fashion productions don't concentrate on single stores, but do more of a feeling shoot and get clothes that fit that mood from whatever stores they can find (seen as in your town there might be one, but not the other).
Besides, why would you drive away a potentially HUGE investor in advertising material (and a nation-wide one at that). The ugliest store always has something of worth, even if just a pin. It is you who have to fit the piece in the proper puzzle for yourself.

The money I pay for it will obviously depend on size and quality of the magazine.

Pricey magazines are usually more grown-up, as they can afford better productions and exclude most teens.

Just a few things off the top of my head...

1)Have you ever or would you be interested in buying a magazine based on gothic music and fashion scene?

Possibly, depending on the answer to the next question.

2)If so, what would you or what do you like to see in it?

Less fashion, more music. Same as NyQuil said; "If you like ____, try _____" type format.

3)How much, roughly, would you be willing to spend on the magazine?

Hell, if it gets me good music, I'm willing to spend 10 bucks a pop.

4)If there was to be a free CD attached, what tracks would you like on it?

New songs, plus the number one rated songs in different categories.

5)What other (if any) products would you like to recieve free with the magazine?

...Cake? I like cake. Ooh, no, better yet, pizza. I don't know. Hasn't anyone ever told you nothing in life is free?

6) How often would you want a new issue of the magazine to be released?

Every month. The usual standard for magazines, and maybe a few holiday specials advertising things like makeup, or jewelry. Not much into fashion, but that would make more people happy, and would be a great way to get a gift for someone.

1)Have you ever or would you be interested in buying a magazine based on gothic music and fashion scene?
Hell yes!

2)If so, what would you or what do you like to see in it?
I would like to see a Gothic Beauty type mag only more directed towards men. Also, I can't find a single, good, regularly published dark music paper mag.

3)How much, roughly, would you be willing to spend on the magazine?
I buy Future Music for eight dollars.... so, around there.

4)If there was to be a free CD attached, what tracks would you like on it?
I am always open to new music. I would like to see up and coming bands and also new music from great artists. If I had heard a demo song from The Greater Wrong of the Right Vol. 1, I would have rushed out and bought instead of listening to my friend and waiting to buy it.

5)What other (if any) products would you like to recieve free with the magazine?
Stickers!!

6) How often would you want a new issue of the magazine to be released?
Once a month or every other month would be cool.

No, no Xng. Fashion is fine. I just don't care to be fashionable myself (unless I'm going on a date or something)

I love it when women are fashionable, especially when they have that elegant gothic beauty to them (long flowing dresses and what not).

And I'm very glad you are devoted to it. I'm sure you will make wonderful designs.

Hey, you do media studies too? I'm doing for just one year as an AS on it's own. Originally I was going to do a horror magazine, but my teachers told me it might be a better idea to do a film magazine, so I wouldn't loose marks for the target audience being too limited (I don;t mind, it'll have a horror film focus anyway)

1) I guess I would, I'd probably be a bit cynical about buying one at first

2) Stuff about upcoming bands, maybe tips on how to customise your clothing, plus that $50 thing that Xnguela mentioned (though I'd prefer it to be in pounds )

3) no more than £4 really, maybe less for the first couple of them

4)Stuff that I hadn;t heard of, with maybe a few well known stuff

5)Decent sized posters, especially if dragons were involved

6) monthly really, any more frequently and I'd probably forget to buy it

1) Most likely, depending on the quality of the content.

2) Music reviews, of course. New musical talent, as a few other people mentioned-- I like the "if you like _____, try ______" format. Places to get cool stuff... perhaps, like some nation-wide magazines, it could have region-specific content.

3) Up to about 5 or 6 dollars, depending on the amount of content and extras.

4) A few classic songs, but mostly new talent. It would be better not to confine the music to only one genre -- industrial, metal, and goth-rock would be a good starting point, perhaps with a few songs that people might not classify as gothic but that might interest Goths.

5) Stickers, patches, posters... stuff that you usually can't find or don't bother shopping for.

6) Monthly or bi-monthly.
