Ahoy.
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I have a love/hate relationship with art. A good lot of it is compulsory, and I get itchy if I don't get ideas down on paper. So yes, I draw a LOT. I also like to cosplay. No, none of that Naruto bullshit, though. I like to make mecha costumes because I get a lot of attention at nerd conventions, and I feel genuine pride from being able to construct something so complicated. I also like to draw comics. I have an ongoing series I would like to get published someday (read: me taking a PDF to kinkos). It was inspired by Battlestar Galactica, Frankenstein, Fahrenheit 451, and Brave New World. It's also about alien fish people.
2. Where are you from?
I'm a born and bred Angelino, but I'm currently going to school in Manhattan, so I suppose that makes me rather bi-costal.
3. Who is your favorite author?
I don't really have one (yeah, yeah shut up), though I like the classic dystopian novels as much as the next guy. I also like Carl Sagan a lot. And the Hellboy series. Also, nonfiction books about space/physics/hardcore nerd shit/etc.
4. What are your favorite films?
I'm more or less a Hollywood whore, but my favorite movie of all time is 2001: A Space Odyssey.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Haven't decided. All depends on the theme. If it's diesel, then I want 40's and 50's jazz/classical. If it's spacey, then I want something appropriate as well. Though if it's a scuba wedding, then... not sure.
6. At your funeral?
-shrug-
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Face up.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
I would rather have my cremated remains jettisoned into space.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
The ones I can't afford.
Actually, it would probably be some combination of a DIY'd white wifebeater, olive drab pants, and my whitish BED Stu boots.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Having the capacity to play video games all day. Also, Christmas.
11. What's your favorite band?
I don't have one. Though I do like Opeth, Rush, some industrial, trance/other electronica (I'm bad with music genres because fuck music genres), lots of classic rock/metal, progressive rock, every kind of jazz, and almost every kind of classical (yes, even the minimalist stuff).
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I've just started my junior year as an illustration major at some overpriced school in New York. (No actually I'm really really grateful that I have the opportunity to get out of my town of origin for 4 years and go to an awesome place.) Though I'm taking a lot of cartooning classes, as well as a thesis for both, so I guess I'm an unofficial cartooning/illustration double major. Without the benefit of getting two diplomas.
13. Why did you join?
Because I want to look at/contribute to the DIY forum (I like making shit), and so I can get more information on undershaving because I want to do something silly with my hair, and I miss my mohawk (but I also don't miss it).
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
I'm a chick awaiting harsh critique about my choice in music.

Your taste in music seems very similar to mine, except I'd throw a few more genres in there.
I like you. You seem nerdtastically cute.

What kind of a nerd are you?
Anime/Gamer/Starwars character?
I like how no matter what genre you like, Opeth seems to be acclaimed as a good band.
Also, Yoko Kanno, yay or nay(Jazz composer)?
Welcome.

Life is a shit sandwich. Unfortunately, it's always lunchtime. How much bread you have goes a long way toward determining how easy it is to swallow.

Yeah, I kind of fucking hate animu... unless it's Miyazaki or mecha. Uhm, as far as nerdries go, I'm more or less a gamer. And hellyes Star Wars. Transformers, Battlestar Galactica, Lord of the Rings, and Transformers.
And I won't deny that I had to look up Yoko Kanno, and I have to say that what I heard was very much Japanese soundtrack. I've never seen any of the animus she's composed for, so I can't really reflect on a familiar theme and make a truly informed decision.
Though I will say my reaction was "meh".

Meh? Youtube Tank!, Yo Pumpkin Head, The Real Man, Piano Black, What Planet is this?, Time to Know; for just a couple of the classics with her and the Seatbelts.
If not her, Hiromi Uehara is exceptional for...whatever her style is but I'm assuming you would enjoy it. If you have time youtube her XYZ. Either that or Kung Fu World Champion & Time Out.

Welcome.
I actually thought you had some kind of high tech shoe when you said "BED", for some reason I assumed that it was an acronym and would be technology related after reading the rest of your introduction.

I did youtube her... and all I got was animu stuff. Though I guess I shouldn't be surprised, judging by how many damn AMVs clog up those series of tubes. I'll go investigate more when I've got time. You've got me curious now.
