Glad you got your kids back. Social services can be awful. My friend works for them and basically she said in many cases parents are awful to their kids but they can't remove them from the parents care as the courts won't support it.
I hope your kids weren't too traumatized by the ordeal.
If your dealing with social services still it maybe a wise idea for the step dad to move out until the case is settled, to stop things going any further. It maybe that the girl is lying but I kind of wonder if you want to take that change. Try not to argue with social workers too much, if you seem ready to do what they want (at least in theory) then they are likely to go a lot easier on you.
