Rollerskating, derby, and the like.

Considering the fact that I have more than one job and I go to school, it always amazes me how much time I have to do absolutely nothing. I decided to join a roller derby team. Unfortunately, there is a film that apparently just came out about roller derby so none of my friends are taking me seriously about it.

ANYWAY, I need to get a pair of skates but everywhere I go they separate "speed" skates with "derby" skates. What's the difference? Wouldn't one wish to be as fast as possible whilst competing?

Here's hoping somebody happens to know about skates or derby for some unknown reason. Thanks in advance.

With speed skates you won't get the maneuverability you need for derby.

This is from a roller skater friend putting it in terms a hockey player like me can understand, and vomited out through me.
