Despite his marvellously vicious delivery, I have never been given reason to believe that Gothicus feels an appropriate response to his comments would be to wallow in self-pity, neither would he necessarily feel it befitting, no matter how absurd you may be at any given time. If you don't like your image then work to improve it, if people think that you're stupid then read, interact and engage. It depresses me to see anyone waxing lyrical about their self-loathing, and talking about how much of a failure you are will only exacerbate the issue of being seen as a joke.
