New here, just saying hi
Hey, I'm ph03nix, and from what I've seen so far, I think I like it here. To stray from blabbing on and on about myself, I'll do us both a favor, and just answer the questionaire found on the old new members thread:
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Currently, I'm a laid off electrical engineer (fucking economy sucks). I'm also a pretty good graphic designer (good with the whole adobe suite), thankfully it works out as supplementary income.
2. Where are you from?
I live in michigan (guess that explains why I am laid off lol)
3. Who is your favorite author?
I can be like the typical scary story guy and go on about Lovecraft, don't get me wrong, I like his stuff, but I'm more of a fan of the creepier Poe stories.
4. What are your favorite films?
To be honest, I have not seen many films in the past few years that scare me, blood and gore does not do it for me, I'm into the "creepy factor", strange stuff, things that you find in japanese horror. I will say once you get past the first half hour or so of paranormal activity, it got sort of scary...not much (after the idiot boyfriend breaks out the ouija board lol). Oh, and I hate scary movies where bad stuff only happens to people doing wrong to begin with, what ever happened to making things happen to average people, giving the illusion that these things can happen to anyone, even you.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Well, I'm already married, so it's kind of late for this question now, plus I'm a guy, I really don't care lol, maybe that's a good discussion to have with my wife, "hey babe is there a song you wish we had at our wedding?"
6. At your funeral?
I seriously want "Boom Boom Pow played at my funeral, and then instead of an open casket, have my corpse suspended on strings like a puppet and dance across the alter for a half hour or so.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Quick, two of my family members have cancer, and the pain seems depressing as hell, when it's my time, I just want to go(I don't want doctors sticking stuff in me). Gunshot to the head, or something where I pass out from shock in advance, like falling from a plane.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
Cremation, I would be in an urn.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Don't really have a favorite, I just wear what I'm comfortable in.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Getting in trouble, and not having to pay any severe penalties. As a kid, you could kick a guys ass and really hurt them, and the worst that would happen is you would get suspended from school, but if you fight as an adult, you get thrown in jail.
11. What's your favorite band?
It's between Korn, System of a Down, and Dead Weather (jack whites side project).
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
Electrical Engineering Associates, I'm going for my Bachelors, but I think I want to pursue my bachelors in graphic design, and not engineering (weighing my options)
13. Why did you join?
I skimmed through a few of the members short stories, and actually got a little creeped out, I was impressed. Plus there is a good ammount of information here (movies, cons, website links, etc.), it's difficult to find quality horror, so it's good to have a central location to get it, such as gothic.net.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?a dude
I also have to say, I podcast for horror too. I was a huge fan of pseudopod, but stories seem to have gotten weak. Then there was Come Let me Whisper by Russell Burt, he was pretty good, but he stopped his show. There is an awesome production called Midnight Radio Theater by Billy Senese, but it's a fully scripted, acted out production, so it's few and far between.
