Well, there's your problem. As far as women I've had relationships with are concerned, I've always treated them with respect and AS EQUALS.
Most of them do like it that way. That NOT EQUALITY thing you mentioned just don't fly ... even the ones that like bad boys don't really want to be that subservient.

Even when you try to help me understand what you're getting at, you make me more confused than before. I don't wanna talk to you anymore.

I think sometimes men take it more from women because they don't want to admit that their pussy is fucking them up every night. Or they want to portray that they ARE in control when they ARE NOT.
I am just saying, I think it can go both ways.

Ha ha Humane, that is kinda fun to say it out loud.
Because every girlfriend I have ever had was an asshole, so I guess I like women assholes too.

No, I've had bad relationships. A couple, I was too selfish. A couple, she was. And one, well ... I would never have dated the woman in the first place if I'd known she had a fiance on the side.
But seriously, I've never had a problem respecting the women I dated.
And I'm not saying I'm some kind of relationship expert, says the divorced man.

On the whole, girls don't want guys to:
A. Completely disrespect them by being abusive
or
B. Treat them like delicate flowers that could blow away at any moment.
I like guys who are actually respectful of women, but also recognize that they have their own strengths. Opening doors, pulling out chairs, etc. is fine in my book, but if you make yourself all about her and have no personality, thoughts, or interests outside of her, then that's just a bit creepy.
As in all things, there needs to be Balance. Be interested, but not obsessed. Have your own opinion, but don't be brutish and rude.

Tam touched on it but let me add my own experiences to this. People want. What they want changes from time to time and from person to person. Sometimes they don't know what they really want but have an idea of what it is, it's close but not there. The whole "asshole guy" thing seems confusing but there is a quality in there that some (women and men) like. I find it's the assertiveness part more often then not. You can defiantly be assertive without being an asshole just as you can be an asshole without being abusive.
Assertiveness boils down to confidences. You can not be assertive without the confidence to back it up. Assholes seem confident. The "I'm right, fuck you" thing is most often what motivates others to use the label "asshole". The trick is dropping the "fuck you" part. Adding respect can do that. Another trick is seeing if the "fuck you" is in others. A failure to do so leads to someone falling for an asshole rather then a person with a health share of confidence.
So, people want (at least in part) a confident mate. Add some wisdom, respect and knowledge of the other person for the win.
I experimented with letting my "bad boy" or "inner asshole" out with people and found huge success in getting laid. It was awesome fun. As much fun as it was I found that it only fed a part of me. I had (have) other sides that need something too. So the relationships were, on the whole, fulfilling and I didn't stay with them. So, I had to search for what I wanted and to do that I had to identify what that was. That shit was fucking work.
There was no easy answer to it. Finally after some years I found that the key (for me) was someone that takes me as I am. After that the rest was gravy. "Who I am", was (and still is) a person that "average people" find scary and intimidating both physically and intellectually. Finding someone ok with that came down to pure luck. I stumbled across my equal a few years back and it's been good.
But enough about me. Back to "assholes" and you. Learn to see the "fuck you" and understand there is no respect there. A confident partner that knows you can tell when you need some TLC and, conversely, when you need to have a fistful of hair used to pull your head back as prelude to being fucked against the wall.

Umm... You do mean 'Maury', right?
Anyway, a WHOLE freaking lot of girls I've seen at school have the epidemic codependency issues, where they are told by society that they are expected to be in a relationship, and they end up unable to live two days without a partner. It's typically the weaker girls, who are more internally vulnearable, who enjoy being made to feel safe in his arms--but oddly enough, that requires he be dangerous to a degree. It's always personal issues that keep a girl with an abusive man. Just assholes, though.... sometimes it's an entertainment factor. Sometimes it's because that girl is a bitch, and just needs a co-bitch to acheive balance. Sometimes, it's guilt. They feel like someone SHOULD treat them like assholes. And, they don't just constantly portray the asshole, but do the odd thing for the girl now and then-- give her one need, then starve her a little for the rest. An independent girl doesn't mind this as much, usually. But, it keeps them coming back. They feel obligated. Or, they are actually convinced that they are in love, and THAT makes them feel obligated. Some are just shallow. They think it's exciting--or fun. In a twisted sense. As long as he looks good....
I'll be sure, I've been an asshole before. But, I'm never all-out degradingly disrespectful. And, I love her enough to always try to do better for her.

What? I thought that was common knowledge already ... or maybe more precisely, not as interesting to talk about as her adventures with her fiance.
