Their instrumental stuff is melodramatic.

I didn't say whether it was good or not, I was simply stating that they were melodramatic.

They're an acquired taste, I think. I didn't like them at first, then I found myself craving them suddenly. I was horrified. But I still like them. I like melodramatic. But only if the people themselves don't take it too seriously. Which they don't. So it's all good.

I dunno....running in front of a stampede would also do the same (regarding percussion at a fast pace - you'd better be fast)

I like them. I like most melodic black metal, and Cradle ads melodrama and full-blown Anne Rice worshipping to that.

Plus, Danni's voice is so cool. It's hillarious seeing such a little guy having such a voice. And not many people are good and screaming, grunting AND singing clean.

My boyfriend can actually sing along with all of their songs.

i really like them. i went to see them in Toulouse, the show was great. have all of their cds now, though i like better ilinath in the same style.
for those who don't them, i'd recommend to listen to "no time to cry" or "cthulhu dawn" that made them famous at first (i mean, Cthlhu dawn).

I think Cradle of Filth did a good job of one of the best Iron Maiden songs ever, I could imagine them doing `Killers` or `Still Life` (off the Piece of Mind Album). But I would love to hear them do `Powerslave` just imagine...

THey only good thing I've ever heard about (or from) Dani Filth is that he's a very cunning linguist. I might pay for that kind of performance from him (after all I wouldn't have to look at his face) but not any other.

Quite frighteningly, I prefer the CoF version to both the original and the Iced Earth cover. In the original, I wait for the guitars to explode out, but the guitarist slaps me with limp noodles and runs away instead. Just my opinion-- otherwise, I prefer Iron Maiden (and Iced Earth, for that matter) to CoF. I dislike CoF overall, though every once in a while they come out with an absolutely spectacular song. Their image, while quite overdone, can be interesting at times, and good for a laugh otherwise.

Look, proof that I like Iron Maiden!

I think Cradle of Filth are great; melodic and energetic metal with some truly memorable songs.

One thing I don't understand though is why people make fun of their over-the-top appearance and/or drama. It's a well known fact that Cradle of Filth are just taking the piss (or "having some fun", if you like). Theatrical performance is interspersed with jokes about guitarists and their obsession with wearing knickers thrown on the stage.

They know how to write and play some damn good music, but they don't take themselves seriously at all. They just like to put on a good show.

Sorry if I sound like I'm preaching. Just thought I'd put in my two cent*. Oh, and as for this...

I've heard him in an interview, and funnily enough he just speaks like a regular British-type person. He has a calm, peaceful voice with a strong British accent. It sounds funny when compared to his banshee impersonations.

Cradle rule! I've recently taken to the death metal vocals myself and, though I'm quite good at it, I can't seem to keep singing for very long without internally haemorrhaging.

Anyone got an idea of their favourite Cradle of Filth ablum?

I would have to say Midian, although I haven't heard all of them. I might change my mind later.

My favourite Cradle of Filth album is their first album `The Principle of Evil made Flesh` and is filled with classics such as `The Black Goddess Rises`, ` To Eve the Art of Witchcraft` and the best ever Cradle of Filth song.. `The Forest Whispers my Name` .

I really hate Cradle of Filth. Like. A lot. I'm not into death metal at all, but they're like...the poster child. More than that, though, most of their fans (that I know) are real dicks. I'm not saying everyone who likes them is a dick, but all the people I know that like them happen to be.

I really hate them. I dont see any talent in ripping your vocal chords and calling it singing. I really hate all that Black/Death/Nu/Hardcore Metal.

i really like them. for ages i was really into the black metal scene so i still have quite an emotional attachment to a few bands. i saw them live in december and they're great showmen. the best album's probably damnation and a day because i like the orchestral parts. the song they did with liv kristine is also awesome.

I brought Nymphetimine (sp?) because I liked the title track.I also like the instrumental tracks & begining to "Swansong For A Raven".But the guitars really ruined that intro for me.I do however think Sarah Jezebel Deva should become a solo artist, she's very talented.
