I remember the series goes downhill as it progresses, but I haven't read any since I was like fourteen, so take that with a grain of salt.

The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein. I'm still not sure what to make of this book. I like the premise, but there are a few logical jumps that are hard to make.

You should read The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, that will really disappoint you in humanity, and I mean at large, not just the dictators.
I am reading The Consolations of Philosophy AGAIN by Alain de Botton because I lost my first copy (a gift from a friend) and went out and bought a replacement, began rereading it and remembered how delightful it was to read. Botton applies the various approaches with modern relevance and with a subtle and wry humor.

I'm putting Oryx And Crake aside for now, Year Of The Flood recapped a lot of it so so far there's no surprises whatsoever. Its good but I'm not excited to read it so its kinda going slow. Reading Zen Women: Beyond Tea Ladies, Iron Maidens, and Macho Masters by Grace Schireson instead.
