Colossus. Good stuff, although the unintentional use of what sounds to the modern ear like porno music got pretty hilarious at times.

Little Miss Sunshine.
Such a bullshit portrayal of life. Why can't we have a Little Miss Darkness? Would be a truer portrayal of real life.

You should definitely check it out, it's twice as good as The Dark Knight.

Next - with Nicolas Cage. Cool premise (the guy can see two minutes into his future and sees all permutations of what would happen if he makes different choices in that two minutes), good special effects, okay movie if you don't look for plot holes ... but the ending was disappointing. I don't know if they were hoping for a sequel, intended to leave you with an ambiguous ending or just couldn't come up with a compelling third act (as happened with the film Unbreakable.)

Agreed. Nolan shined in every goddamn way he possibly could. His own original screenplay. Great casting, great acting, great cinematography. Everyone who worked on "Inception" deserves an award. That has to win something for the 2010 awards.
I think the genius behind it's complexity is that Nolan wasn't trying to make it so complex that you are confused, I think he came up with this amazingly complex idea and described it in such a way that at least a good portion of people would understand what the fuck kind of cinematic ecstasy just entered their brains.
Such a good film in every aspect a film can be.
Nolan keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for Batman 3 and what is promising to be the first good Superman movie in existence. Nolan prepares to reboot the series naming the first movie "The Man of Steel" after he finishes Batman 3. I'm definitely happy he decided to put it on hold to do Inception. So fucking good.

Very good spook story, though the ending was rather...abrupt.
I highly recommend it for anyone who likes a good supernatural story.

We just finished watching the new "Alice in Wonderland." Ok I really liked it, I think it did a good job of fitting with what Lewis Carroll already had written. Just nutty enough for him. Even my husband who was more critical of it turned to me and said "well even when Tim Burton's having an off day he's still better than a lot of directors."

Personally, I really didn't think the direction of that movie was all that great. I only really liked 3 parts, The Mad Hatter reciting a snippet of the Jabberwocky poem, part of the Jabberwocky fight, because part of it was also kind of horrible and oddly animated, and the credits rolling because I knew it was time to leave.
Also, I thought it was odd, him calling it Alice in Wonderland, but combining both that book and Through the Looking Glass in the same movie. I think he'd have been better off doing a trilogy based on the Looking Glass Wars. But that also might be my heart yearning for another epic trilogy like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, and it probably would never hit such critical acclaim. It would've at least been a story that hasn't been told before on the big screen. And as much as I hate to give johnny depp credit, if it wasn't for him, the movie would've probably been more boring that it already is.
I dunno, he's always been a hit or miss director for me, seems like every other movie he directs is good or bad.
Vincent (1982)
Frankenweenie (1984)
Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)
Beetlejuice (1988)
Batman (1989)
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Batman Returns (1992)
Ed Wood (1994)
Mars Attacks! (1996)
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Planet of the Apes (2001)
Big Fish (2003)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Corpse Bride (2005)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
Personally I think "Big Fish" was the best movie he's ever directed. But everyone's got their own preferences.
Upcoming movies he's planning on Directing. 1 of which being a remake.
Dark Shadows (2011)
Frankenweenie (2011)
The Wizard of Oz (2013)

He's going to do a Wizard Of Oz? Really? Does he know that there might be a Wicked movie coming out?

Ack! There is no need to do a remake of the Wizard of Oz. Somebody please telegraph Mr. Burton and tell him the original is perfect ... it cannot be improved on. It can only be made to look gross and slick and CGI and dark and 3D ... none of which will be an improvement.
And it won't be better if Johnny Depp plays the scarecrow.
Dammit!

A remake of Frankenweenie can be nothing less than awesome. XD XD XD
[Then again, I have a thing for purposefully bad movies.]

I'm trying to find out how true it is, and its not there in his IMDB (but he's producing Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter apparently XD), I did find articles saying that there are FIVE Wizard of Oz movies to be made over the next five years! Burton is apparently rumored to direct one and so is Drew Barrymore...and Angelina Jolie as The Wicked Witch Of the West? *shudder*
I'm really looking forward to Wicked, although I'd rather they did it like the book instead of the musical, but I think Return To Oz was okay enough for a sequel and that should be that, remake that if you must or do another one of the books. And no Angelina Jolie.

See, I'm okay with Wicked, which is a marvelous invention by looking at the story from a different perspective. And producing movies from the sequel books makes sense to me. I didn't have much use for Tin Man, but mostly because I found it slow and draggy, but I give them credit for telling a different tale. But there is no need to redo the Wizard of Oz. Nobody needs to remake Citizen Kane or Casablanca or Some Like It Hot or It's A Wonderful Life ... (well, someone tried to remake that one ... and it sucked.)
Bleh.
