I 've never understood the appeal of that game the only appeal behind it I can grasp, is the sex, and that actually makes me want the game less. Ironic, how the xbox 360 had the biggest sex in video game scandal of the next gen consoles, but it's only the PS3 that has actual graphic sex in its games.

Why not play it, and find out for yourself? ;-]
The sex is actually a -very- minor part of the game; most of the rest of it is great, bloody, gory, vengeance-getting fun.
I guess, though, if you don't like fun with your video games, then you won't like GoW3. XD XD XD

First, it's hard to find an objective voice in the din-and-cry over XBox vs. PS3 (I'm a PS3 owner but don't feel any need to prove my system is better than another any more than I feel a need to crow about what brand of TV I have.) But Gamespot shows that GOW3 got an average score of 9.2 out of 10 in 42 commercial reviews. That's a broad-based, reliable assertion that the game is one of the best of it's kind on any system.
Second, I downloaded and played the demo for free on my PS3 and found myself wrapped up in the storytelling, the action and the puzzle solving to the point where I was very disappointed when I completed the demo and could not play on. This is no simple Hack and Slash.
Finally, you spoke of the "hugely HD browns and greys that next gen consoles are so fond of." Nothing could be further from the truth. The colors are vibrant and alive, with bright fire leaping off the screen and detail levels I've not seen in a video game before. I played this in 1080p on my 47 inch flat screen, and as I played people came into the room and could not leave because they were staring with dropped jaws or "ooohing and aaahing" like they were watching a fireworks display.
The game content is not for everyone ... it is gratuitously violent and earns it's mature rating both for that and for the questionable moral choices the protagonist makes. But for a gamer who can handle the mature content, it's a hell of a roller-coaster ride. I can't wait to get my full copy!

Ben, I was one of the Ooh-Ahhs; every time I came into the living room while my Beloved was playing it, I couldn't help but stay and watch until he was done for the night.
It is just...Oooh, it's just absolutely amazing! But -definitely- NOT for the squeamish or the over-sensitive.

I think they were referring to Gears of War, not God of War, which is a third person shooter in black and brown hell.

My only problem with the Xbox is that a lot of the good games that come out on it eventually are ported over to the PC, which is much better hardware than the Xbox. Not to mention, on the PC you get access to custom, user generated content with many games.

Which would be interesting if it weren't for the fact that this is a thread dedicated to talking solely about a Playstation 3 game ... and since "God of War 3" is exclusive to the Playstation 3 system, there's nothing here that connects in any way to that Microsoft game system you mentioned.
This isn't even a "my system is better than your system" thread, thankfully.
So if you have any further commentary about the x-system, find one of the appropriate threads to do it in or start a new one. And do try to stay on topic, please.
