I'm not entirely sure there is a casual way to bring that up. Not to someone you don't know well. It could cause an interesting conversation, though. :3

Not to worry, I mean, you want to see what sort of talent they have... take them out for ice cream first... that should give you a good idea of what to expect.

Maybe, if they like what they see too.. they'll save you the awkwardness of having to bring it up yourself.
