Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind.

I adore Visual Kei ^w^ But it's not my style. I wish I could pull it off, though.

I don't know if you can still call them 'visual kei', but I saw Dir en Grey on tour with Apocolyptica a few weeks ago, and they were pretty good. It was closer to metalcore than it was to some of the pop-y visual kei I've heard in the past.

Oh, and if they count, I like Schwein (it was a project between KMFDM, Pig, and Buck-Tick). Some of Buck-Tick's stuff on SSS was good too I think.

Oh, and I should mention that Raymond Watts had another Japanese side project, Schaft:

I think the fashion sucks as bad as the music. I'm not trying to troll the thread that's just my honest take on it. I collect some dolls from Japan and just about everyone on those type of boards is either a Visual Kei or Yaoi fangirl from America.

The bands are basically the Madonnas/Lady Gagas of Japan.

Admittedly, I like Scissor Sisters better.

I agree. I really love the androgyny and the theatrics of it all. The over the top bands like Malice Mizer are fun to look at.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

And you can do the style if you're not Asian, it just depends on how you do it. You can't be as OTT, but then you notice that when the bands aren't on stage/filming videos/in photoshots, they all look really casual, but with awesome hair and accesories. It's kinda just another form of dress up.

Oh yeah, did I mention I LOVE IT?!

I like Visual Kei!! It reminds me a lot of the 80's glam bands that my dad and I listen to.
