Found a guy willing to do it for $425 + tax, and another willing to do it for $300, but the $425 guy will do 4 sprays, one initial, one at 20, 60, and 120 days out to makes sure the little fuckers are dead.
Luckily it's the law in NYC that my landlord get rid of them, so he's paying for it.
But seriously. These things friggin' suck. They breed like crazy, they don't die, and while they aren't dangerous and their bites aren't any worse than mosquitos, they make it hard to sleep because you're always worrying about them.

I've never seen a bed bug. And with my bug phobia...its best that it stays that way.

That's good that he has to pay for it. Hopefully he doesn't take his time with it like my apartment does.
I know what you mean, though. Some people don't even notice them for a while. It's not that they're the end of the world, they're just fucking gross. I'd probably sleep naked and in my car if stuff like that bothered me as much as it used to.

Exterminator came yesterday. He was cool, apparently these things are a FRIGGIN' EPIDEMIC.
90% of NYC hotels have them. The tourists bring them in in their suitcases.
Anyway, guy sprayed. He's going to be back 3 more times over the next 60 days.
The worst part is having to wash ALL OF MY CLOTHES. Like seriously, ALL OF THEM.
The laundromat is 5 blocks away, and due to the foot or so of snow on the ground, I can't use a cart, I have to individually take a load over and back ONE AT A TIME.

If I ever had them, I would wear an airtight synthetic outfit combined with a gas mask and hunt and kill them one my one with my fingers and perhaps some source of fire until an exterminator came.
But you know if it ever gets extremely bad, you can always do what one pope did to survive the black death... Keep two bonfires permanently stoked nearby you. The pope did it because he thought it purified the air, when it simply kept away fleas.

Used to have these fucks too. It was hell. I fell to my knees and wept when at last we routed them. For a while I thought they were just going to slowly eat me.

Also: What the fuck is wrong with people in my neighborhood? It's common in New York to sometimes pick up discarded furniture off the street (Since no one has a car and people move so often it's easier to just throw out perfectly good stuff and buy more) but why the hell do Non-homeless people feel compelled to move/ dig through regular garbage on the street? Especially when that garbage has been labled "WARNING: BEDBUGS!" in two languages.
Seriously, I walked out onto the street yesterday and saw what looked to be a normal dude tearing through the remains of my discarded boxes.
Me: Dude, what are you doing? There's bedbugs in there.
Guy: I saw a decent looking cimposition notebook in here.
Me: That notbooks been used. Also, you can buy a NEW notebook for 99 cents nextdoor. Also: BEDBUGS. If you end up bringing them home with you it'll cost $300 to hire an exterminator.
Guy: Oh. Didn't think about that...
After I left my G/F said he came back anf kept digging.

I apparently have fucking BED SPIDERS. Lately I've seen a few tiny ones by my window. But I woke up yesterday morning with two bites on my freaking neck. And they hurt like crazy.

Vacuum your mattress for now, until you get an exterminator. When I did mine we found 7...Well those were bedbugs, I don't know if it works for bed spiders

Watch your back. A popular method of murder is to leave venomous animals in the victim's bed, such as a cobra or two.

Mmmmmm bedbug furniture... fun!!
It seems like a pretty wasteful thing, to throw furniture away just because its convenient.
Mind you, I'm overly sentimental about my furniture, each thing I have, has its own story and meaning to me... even though they're not always the prettiest or trendiest of pieces.
I would, however, not hesitate to get rid of any/all of it if I had some sort of nasty infestation.

Chances are you just have a couple of spiders and the bites will heal pretty quickly, usually people don’t get spider infestations and they don’t go after mattresses like bed bugs. Just make sure that you do a good job of cleaning your room and they shouldn’t come back (cuz if you have no bugs for them to eat plus you have destroyed their web then they don’t have much of a reason to stick around). If the bites really hurt then try to look up the type of spider that you saw, and see a doctor if it looks infected or isn’t better in a couple of days.

Bed bugs and lice are both equally terrifying and hard to get rid of. I had lice almost two months ago, and I'm prettttttty sure I fucking killed them all and removed their eggs by now, but I'm always paranoid and scratching my head and ripping my hair out looking for the fuckers. I empathize.

They creep me out (actually all bugs do). In my hotel room in London there were tons. Luckily, they bit my dad and not me. The hotel was quite lousy, but I couldn't afford a better one.

Exterminator is coming again tomorrow. I sealed my bed in a dust-mite cover after he sprayed it last time, so the matress is safe. Found a single bedbug crawling on my sheets yesterday and killed it. I've had a handful of bites since then. I'mm not sure where they are hiding, I suspect it's somewhere on my g/f's side, as the bites are usually on the arm which wraps around her when we sleep. Maybe they're living in her yarn?
The Laundromat won't let us just dry clothes without washing them, so we're just going to have him spray the clothes, spray the yarn, spray our drawers, the dvd collection, the lightswitch covers the electrical sockets, the curtains etc.
we have 3 more visits, so hopefully we'll get rid of them.
