Mohawks
I just got myself a mohawk the other day.. I bought this super strong hairspray, which kind of keeps it up, but seeing as the front is long enough, it takes me a long time.. Anyone have any tips on keeping it up for a whole day, without it drooping or anything?
Thanks..

Aaaaaaaaaalrighty. You can use Elmer's glue to make it stay up for a long time, but the only thing is it dries your hair out something fierce, and it's a bitch to get all of it out. I'd only recommend that if you absolutely needed it in for a whole day. What I always used to do was to wet my hair, dry it (not completely), gel up a spike, blow dry the fuck out of it, hairspray the fuck out of it, and blow dry the fuck out of it again. Experiment, and you'll find something that works for you.

When I had a mohawk *Not really...Kinda like Brody Dalle's from The Distillers* I used wood glue and gelatin.

hehehe...my husband is punk, and this is what he used to do when he had a hawk...
Eggs. You use egg whites and let it air dry. If you don't mind being skanky, the eggs will hold for 3 days.
Too skanky for me personally but hey he says it works.

Yes, eggs is a typical ingredient used for dreadlocks and mohawks, in holding it's style.

Right the coat hangers..apperntly she streches them out and sort of moulds her hair around them with gel..it uses less gel, you cant tell she has them in because hers is really and i mean really long

I don't have any pictures of myself, but I do have a couple pictures of my girlfriend when she had her mohawk...
I did the blue dye! This is her now, sadly, without a hawk, but still gorgeous!...

Thanks, I love her tons...I just look at mohawks as alternative since there are so many different ways to wear one. Color, size, and shape all say something different.

She really is gorgeous!
... back when there was only one guy with a mohawk down here, he said he kept it up with cornstarch, hairgel, and rubber cement. HIS stayed up and looked good... now there are a bunch of kids that try to pull off a chickenhawk (they don't go all the way back) and don't bother making it look cool... oh-well. Good luck!

I had a mohawk a couple of months back... PVA glue works really well, it washes out easily and keeps the mohawk up.... You may want to consider using hairspray after you dry it with a hairdryer... Just keep those mini-hairsprays in your pocket or bag to keep it touched up.. Works really well.

I forgot another thing that works amazingly...clear geletin. Mix a little bit more than the normal amount, put it in your hair and let it sit for a while. Works like a charm...

Well, I've never had a mohawk, but back in high school I dated a lot of guys with really tall hawks. They all seemed to have thier own magic recipe. Some used ingredients such as: elmers glue, knox geletin, corn syrup, hairspray, egg whites, laundry starch, ect. I think they played around until they found the perfect mix. I hope that helped! I remember one boyfriend's hair always smelled like lime jello. *grin*

In Australia, this year has been the metrosexual type "mohawk" trend, which is a much softer version to a typical mohawk. It's so annoying.
Then again, metrosexual guys are taking over Australia. It's scary.

Oh yeah, also try Elmer's Blue Glue.
Chicks with blue hawks rock.
Reminds me of The Dead Milkman's 'Punk Rock Girl'!

Ahh, you speak of the fauxhawk...where they have a full head of hair, but it's gelled to look like a mohawk. Is that what you're referring to?
