Hey Ducky, how long did that take you to make and what program did you use for it?

It was all done with music gear, recorded into Adobe Audition. Keyboards, circuit bent shit, effects pedals and a couple of DIY things. Can't remember what I used for that track. To make, finding a nice set up took about fifteen minutes. Initial recording was about 45 minutes long, mastering a couple of days.

I'm a little whacked out on painkillers so it messed with me quite well. I don't know what you did but it totally sounded like there were voices screaming in the background. I like it. I've never made anything like that myself, everything I've made in the past has been......pretty :-/
Was mastering it a difficult process? I always hated mastering shit. I especially hated cutting and splicing waveforms when I was making stuff. That shit is tedious.

I found a contact point on a kids learning laptop toy thing that I connected the diaphragm of a cheap assed mic' to, and when you have it in your mouth and then talk without letting the mic' leaves your lips it picks up your speech, sort of like a piezo, and then it gets all fucked up and scrambled by the circuit. Sold it for 200 Euro.
I love mixing and mastering about as much as I love the creative process. With the right tweaking you can hear sounds that you didn't even know you made.

DIY makes for some of the best sounds. I went to college with absolute arses who insisted that good sounds only came from quality instruments and expensive computer programs. Fuck that shit, one of the most useful 'instruments' I ever had was a pringles tube filled with bird seed.
I think I hated mastering so much because I had dicks round me all the time who insisted that girls can't make good music.

Get a Pringles pot and long, thin really wobbly spring, put a snare skin over the end, stick the spring through it and you have a thing you made for five bucks that sounds exactly like distant thunder.
Also, Suzanne Vega makes me moist.

That sounds like a pretty good idea actually. I just had mine filled with bird seed and used it as a makeshift shaker cos fuck paying a stupid amount of money for something I can make, that sounds equally as good, from stuff in my kitchen. Shit, I've bought crappy kids toy xylophones and used those in what I've recorded.

Junk like that is always great. Passing an audio signal through circuits not intended for audio can result in some weird sounds, too. Everything is an instrument.

I had one of those things I bought in a store a long time ago (Spencer's Gifts, I think). Only it was 5 feet long, and the hollow tube had the twangy spring suspended between two bottom facing dixie cups. It was called a Zoob Tube and it was AWESOME.
Thunder and reverb affects and echo chamber (it had a hole on the side you could shout into) and you could reach a finger in and pluck the string for shorter effects. Oh, and you could get some really interesting phased effects depending on the timing of how you shook the thing.
Man, I wish I still had that Zoob Tube.
EDIT: I just looked in my closet and found it. It's called a Zube Tube, The Ultimate Cosmic Sound Machine.
Man, am I pleased I still have it.

I used to get so sick of hearing about people's expensive instruments and recording equipment and stuff. I did far better than all of the people who were dicks to me on the course I was doing and I didn't have access to even half the shit they had at home.

Well, what do you know. They still sell it!
http://www.amazon.com/Zube-Cosmic-To...9373285&sr=8-1
And for $12.95 it's a steal.

A lot of people music as mechanical, some are plain uninformed, some just want to sound like Malmsteen. I have a lot of expensive gear that is awesome, but I can never get over the fact that somewhere out there, there might be a guy that would hook and set up the exact same stuff in the exact same way and get the same sound, and that's boring.

Expensive stuff is nice and sounds great but it's not the be all and end all. I find it far more interesting to be creative and use stuff people might not expect. Makes it feel like what I'm making really isn't exactly the same as what everyone else is doing, ya know?

That's why everyone making music should learn electronics. Then you can sell it on to collectors for wicked loads.

I know a bit about electronics but not much. I don't have much luck with electronic shit, I seem to blow things up quite often. I mostly just make shitty instruments out of stuff I find in the house.

I'm jazzed to learn that when Comicpalooza rolls around in late May here in Houston, among other things they will feature the Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator, a full six (6) person setup complete with projector view screen, for play during the convention. Artemis is best described as "Star Trek through the Rock Band filter."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72Xhd...layer_embedded
The game simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together; one computer runs the simulation and the "main screen", while the others serve as workstations for the rest of the bridge crew: : Communications, Helm, Engineering, Science and Weapon Control. Players work together to overcome obstacles, with five players manning stations led by their Captain.
Wonder if I can get 6 people together to play? Hmmmm ...
Edit: I think I'm going to have to practice that falling out of your chair thing.

I am actually LOLing. Sounds like a hell of a good time!
Edit: I'm planning on buying this DIY Ukelele Kit as soon as they get them back in stock, but I don't know how it will sound accompanied by a rhythm section of thunder!

No problem. I've been thinking of buying the violin and mandolin kits, myself, they're a damn fine price. Next lowest price I've seen for a quality kit was $350.
