Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I don't care for her singing, and it's fine for people to make fun of this. But it hardly qualifies as the worst song of all time. I grew up in the aftermath of an era that put songs with lyrics like "Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy" and "Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost overnight?" on the top charts.
And honestly, nobody is ever going to be able to pass up "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies for the sheer annoyance and offensiveness of it on every level ... and this WAS a top 40 hit!

OP: You must be joking. That staccato bubblegum had me totally annoyed in seconds, and both songs were that way.

Word. Although I guess it's probable that changes in social media have widened the pool of crap somewhat, that whole "60s/70s/[insert decade] was the golden age of music" shit pisses me off. I'd imagine there have ALWAYS been 50 (my best guess, although I have no idea) shit-awful bands for every inspiring one, yet people act as though the dominance of uninspiring music is something specific to the last couple of decades.

Yeah, but that's a valid point about the widening availability of access diluting the talent pool of late.
Oh, and I like the highlights of the 60's and 70's, not the broad musical canvas of it all. As with ANY era, there's some genius to be savored there. And it was an age in which music bloomed with technical innovation and the beginnings of better distribution models. But along with the gems that were distributed, there definitely was a lot of crap.

I don't think you appreciate the layers. The true HORROR that this song expresses. It's GENIUS.

I tried watching her video but I got confused by the lack of Tommy Wiseau.

What? I seriously don't know who that broad is. I didn't even click on the link provided. She probably sucks big hairy donkey balls, anyway. Am I right, or am I right?
