Your Man Reminder
Okay, so this is about as heteronormative as you can get, but I also strangely enthralled by the prospect of having a breast cancer awareness video or ANYTHING that isn't about "save the boobies!" or some such shit.

Is this what the female gaze is like? Cause I was hoping they'd pan the camera a little lower... and maybe a back shot or two...

well they went wrong with the touching the breasts... man you do it with the palms of your hands, and you get your man to check them out for you... or if you don't have a man, just find a random guy to do it for you.
And where is Bruce Campbell? I lost interest with the beefcakes - they all look the same...

While it does have its faults it is a refreshing change from the save the boobies crap. Also I love that they included a pink shower cap in the shower scene and the little dancing bit at the end.

I find the ad troubling, but also very amusing.
It annoys me that some ad agency thinks that the wimminz need to be reminded how to take care of their own bodies by men - yes, I know that it is a novelty to get people to use the app and be reminded to check their breastesses, but it is done in a bit of a patronising way. It is also terribly heteronormative.
It also should mention the incidence of risk that men have for breast cancer. Basically, anyone with breast tissue can get breast cancer. I have nursed a number of men over the years who have been dying from breast cancer.
And why is the doctor in it pointed out as not being one of the 'hotties'? I think that he has the best body out of all of them.

Heteronormative as balls (heh), but I still think its refreshing to see "hey women! We'll be hot for you to get your attention!" Like the whole "save the boobies!" Or Telus's "Your Breast Friend!" seuxalizes women to get the word out about breast cancer, I guess because we need the men to save our tits? I very much doubt they do it to appeal to lesbians.
I guess its like Cosmo on its better days. Annoyingly heteronormative, but kind of exceptional in that it acknowledges that women enjoy being titillated (in this case by men) instead of "women are for titillating men." I'm thinking about when it has male cheesecake in it and not headlines like "HOW TO PLEASE YOUR MAN!"
I'd say which one probably has the better body but I think Versus would hunt him down and give him uppercuts.
But I do agree that the breast cancer campaigns are too gendered. I mean, yes women are far more likely to develop it, but it really needs to be put out there that men should check too.

Unfortunately if they were to try the same approach for men and/or lesbians, it would qualify as porn and never get posted on youtube.
However that brings up an interesting idea, a website for such things that isn't afraid of making pornographic informational videos. Just thing of all the ways you could fit breast exams, vaginal exams, prostate exams, and testicular exams into a porno and you could make them into pornos for all sexual orientations and fetishes. Hell one common subject of porn is already the gynecologists, nurses, and doctors, why not add a little information into the porn?

Yeah, because you NEVER see women sexualized in order to grab the attention of men in the media! Its taboo, unheard of!

Given how they won't let their actors use condoms, I don't think they're in the market to help people.

I know, but when was the last time you've seen it put to good use like the men in this video?

Who said anything about using the porno industry, anyone can make porn. Heck amateur acts are apparently the most popular thing these days.

Probably because its free, but the kind of porn that advocates enthusiastic consent and safe sex is almost mythical and probably not free.
Not to mention, scraping cervixes is not sexy, and no porn would ever convince me otherwise.

I mean as in women being used to help out with a male disease.
