Picking at my dried out lips and impatiently wiggling my foot, waiting for the rice to be done cooking so I can feed the dawg. I'm also dreading going out to walk him tonight because it is so stinking c-c-cooold!! I'm contemplating if I need to invest in those snow bootie things for him. A glass of wine (or two) sure would be nice to have as I soak in the tub.

I'm trying to decide what sort of frosting to make for the applesauce spice cupcakes that I'm making for my friend's party this weekend. I know I want to do two different flavors, I'm thinking of doing cream cheese frosting and one with a buttercream base but I don't just want to do a straight up buttercream (as I don't think it would work terribly well with the spices). I'm leaning towards perhaps trying a ginger buttercream or maybe cinnamon buttercream.

Have you ever tried cardamom? It seems to work better in frosting than cinnamon - holds its own against the sugar without overpowering everything else (I always feel like cinnamon either gets lost or takes over). I once made a maple bourbon frosting that would probably work really well on an applesauce spice cupcake, if you're feeling particularly decadent.

I don't have any cardamom on hand and I was going to make the buttercream tonight but it is something to think about for the future. I'm not really worried about the cinnamon being overwhelming, I usually make a swiss style buttercream, not a french one so it will not end up being quite a sweet and therefore hint of cinnamon should do the trick.
That maple bourbon frosting could be rather yummy.

I ended up going with an almond buttercream and I am pretty pleased with it.

Writing a new story. It's sci/fi/fantasy/urban fantasy/romance/save the world.
Doing the washing, thinkign about what to have for lunch, waiting for the oven to preheat to bake muffins, playing with babybat.
I love lazy days!

Drinking hot cocoa which used to contain copious amounts of ghostie marshmallows and smiling about the wonderful afternoon Mr. Kitty, the Kitten, and I had visiting my cousin + her husband on the property they just moved into.
TWENTY acres of land! There is a stable with 3 horse stalls, a riding arena, two garages (one for cars the other for equipment), two guest rooms in the 'basement', a wrap around porch, and views worthy of death on command.
I've never seen their four Goldens so happy, even the 12 year old was running around grinning like a puppy! We got to meet one of the two resident barn cats, a black and white neutered tom named Max. He and his brother I believe will be well taken care of by my cousin and her husband. She is already showing signs of deep attachment to these cats and they just started moving into the house yesterday!

A scarf. according to the pattern that comes with it it just takes a ball to make a scarf, so I figured, quick easy christmas gifts!
I'm thinking about cheating and picking up a thin black yarn to knit with it, I did that before with eyelash yarn and it worked fine.

Brilliant. I would have never thought to do that. I would have just thrown the yarn to other side of the room and sulked for a while. I always just make everyone hats and arm warmers out of KnitPicks yarn. It's cheap and doesn't make me cry.

Sounds like fun, MissC!
I need to buy some thicker string to use with the hematite beads I bought. The stuff I got is way too thin. They need to say whether some wire/string is suitable for heavy or light jewelry.

I know. I was throwing a bitch fit at myself and deleted it. One part of me says I'm too old to use stuff like that and think it's funny, the other part thinks fuck it so I'm torn.
