Hmm, interesting concept, and I must thank you for sparking curiosity about it in my mind. Given the fact that its an issue of a sensory nature I was inspired to see if there was any obvious correlation with autism(none), also to see if this would lead to any information about that lovely little sensation I often get when I hear a particularly lovely musical composition. In that sense I was unsuccessful, while I did come across frisson, it did nothing to explain the particularly pleasing sensation I feel at what seems to be my brain stem. Pity, perhaps another day.

I am curious however how you feel about the nature of your reactions to these stimuli? While what I've read says they feel pleasurable, pleasure of certain types in some cases can be considered unpleasing. With that in mind I am curious if there is a point with which you just want the sensations to stop. Has there ever been a case where someone you know has deliberately abused such sensations by just repeatedly triggering them over and over causing you to become irritated with them?

I've never wished to stop feeling nice tingles in my head from a certain sound. I mostly use ASMR videos to fall asleep or relax, rarely do I get the sensations in everyday noises. So no one can really abuse the fact that I feel good when I hear them. Haha

Well when I read about it I was reminded of that one peculiar condition that causes extremely frequent orgasms in the women unfortunate enough to experience the condition. They try their best to avoid anything that might trigger(such as vibrations) it but unfortunately that often isn't possible. I even heard the story of one woman who's ex bf loved taking advantage of that fact and giving her orgasms to an abusive extent.

Now it's my understanding that the sensations from ASMR exist purely in your head as opposed to actual physical orgasms, though are no less pleasurable. However the differences between these ASMR "orgasms" are not entirely clear to me, given that I am far more experienced with the more physical nature of an orgasm combined with the reaction in the brain happening at the same time, as opposed to being purely in my head.

What known stimuli cause these reactions in you?

Does the reaction in your head include any of the associated after effects involved with actual sex(glow, breathless, etc.)?

Does it make you feel any of the various associated psychological(dirty, or happy, etc.) effects involved in actual sex?

Is this feeling distracting at all? and do you think you could experience it safely while still focusing on other things such as work, or driving(or both)?

Sorry if this is too much, and too personal and I understand if you don't wish to answer, it's all just quite simply fascinating. Though such a fascination is understandable I think given the positive nature associated with an orgasm. Brushing on different surfaces, sweeping, light whispers of people with accents (favorite being a few videos on youtube of makeup rolepalying), opening up packages, buttering toast... Once when I was half asleep my boyfriend was rolling cigarettes using this machine and the nose was extremely soothing...

And to DLWinters, don't feel bad, I don't go anywhere without some source of fire and a knife. I could leave the house without my wallet, cell phone, shoes, or just about anything else other than the minimum amount of clothes to be decent, but I won't leave without those things, even if i have nowhere to put them other than my bra.
