Actually have a few things:
Weather

change in direction in my new book's storyline.

I just received an acceptance letter to participate in Texas A&M University's 10-week summer REU (research experience for undergraduates) program in the entomology department! I'll be making $500 per week, room and board is covered, and they'll pay my travel expenses. HHHHHOOOOOLYYY SHIT, MY LIFE IS COOL.
So, this has a whole slew of implications: not only will I get to play with bugs in Texas all summer, but it will knock out my research project required for graduation as a biology major (one less huge obstacle to face as a junior/senior). I no longer have to search for a summer job, I'll have approximately $5,000 (more than I would make lifeguarding at a summer camp or some shit) to help pay my tuition next semester, aaand I will look so much more appealing to graduate schools.
My heart is racing and I can't stop smiling and AHHHHH.

Well, it certainly helps to have taken a biology class in high school. Without that it would have been a million times harder for me to understand the mechanisms behind photosynthesis, cell division, blah blah blah. Buuut even if you didn't get that kind of class, as long as you end up in a decent university with a quality professor, and you make sure to actually study (sooo important), you should be fine. As far as actually "succeeding" in a career in biology, I don't know too much. I have noticed that unless you're an expert and you're doing a fuck-ton of research, you probably won't be making a suuuper great living, but I'm not entirely too concerned about that. I just want to enjoy my job working outdoors doing research and field work.

Over here you can do filler courses to help you with science degrees at university... not that it's much help to you.
I finished my new two book story - 150,000 words in three weeks.. new story from scratch... Already decided on the covershot, now I just need to edit it to get the story to work... sigh, I hate editing... might now procrastinate on the web by trying to find the right picture with public rights... sigh.
