I want a pug but we can't have one. Pug would probably have breathing troubles due to the feather dust of the Cockatoo =(

They have breathing problems anyway, sadly. And they can not take the heat, we have to wait for the weather to cool off before we can babysit mom's pugs again. And they're super inbred.
Not so dumb though, when mom's at work she puts them in the kitchen and has a baby gate. Well, one of the dogs figured out that by pushing the chairs at the table around she can jump up on things and get at everything. Clever girl.

Saya: That is adorable! I had a dog once, even though not a pug, with similar intelligence. She would use it for mischief though :P
We in my family have always been soft, so our dogs are allowed on empty chairs at the table when we are not eating or when we are done eating. And this dog would then rest her head on the table if there were any leftovers there, and she would look all tired and in need of attention. Then she would drop her tongue out, seemingly at random and always hit the leftovers by "accident"
I love dogs

Oh, the mother pug gives you such a look like you just beat the shit out of her but she still is willing to forgive, if only you'll give her food.
I also feel bad that since she had puppies, she's huge. As in I've been given to calling her Daisy the Hutt. And its a sin, the other dogs are much smaller and are fine laying on you, but when she see that and she wants to jump up on you too, its like being crushed.
Mom got a photographer to take a lot of pictures when she still had 11 of the puppies, I'll scan them for this thread sometime.

Saya: That sounds like an awesome pug I'm looking foreward to seeing the picture when you get it scanned

Never had a pug myself. A roommate had one I lived with a few years back. I liked the dog, even if at times it simply wouldn't leave me alone. Damn thing did everything it could to get me to stop what I was doing and pet it. I have to say I do like there smashed face and sometimes I can't help cracking up when they start snorting.
If you like pugs then a rat terrier would be another dog to look into. They seem to have the same temperament pugs do and as a bonus some snort. Some also sport the same kind of smashed face look pugs do. Only thing you have to be aware of is the fact that they are hunting dogs. Caged pets especially if they are related to rodents are a no go. Those doing will keep trying to get into that cage and kill what ever is in it tell they do.

I actually have a terrier dog. It's an off-breed of a Fox Terrier that is only native to Scandinavia as far as I have been told. They don't even seem to have an English name, but directly translated, they are called Danish-Swedish Farmdogs.

One of my best friends had a pug... fawn with black face. His name was Ambrose, and he was the noisiest dog I've ever heard! He actually had to have surgery on his face so he could breathe!
Unfortunately, when my friend had her first baby, the pug turned very aggressive toward the little girl. My friend took him up to a no-kill pug shelter in Portland. I know it was hard on her, but they couldn't take the chance of the dog somehow hurting the child.

I know many people making that decision with a number of animals. It is never easy
And while pugs are cute and all, on a more serious note, I think it is an outrage that people bred a dog breed that can hardly survive on it's own just out of vanity.

Never is. People get attached so fast and form a deep connection before we even know it. My dog is currently up at Mission Wolf in Colorado. When I moved to another state to take a better job I couldn't take Lobo my Malamute/Wolf hybrid with me. The day I drove him up there was not easy. But its true that sometimes a shelter is a better place for a dog.

There aren't really many like this in Denmark as far as I know, so I know people who had to put their pets down because of the risk of them hurting small children. It is so sad...

Its funny how someone that have had a pet can read that and understand where you are coming from and others will think that its crazy that you would even think that.
Mission Wolf is a wolf sanctuary in north west Colorado. They also take in wolf hybrids. If you ever find your self state side you should go. I love that place. I spent a couple summers volunteering there just so I could spend the day there.

This thread makes me want to get a pug. (said in Ellen Degeneres voice) I shall name him Champ, and he will be my pug. "Here Champ! Here boy!"

I love how their pop eyes look slightlyin opposite directions . And how their skin doesn't fit them properly when they're puppies. They're like little bodies in a too big sock !
My workmate has a pug called Dolla. So cute and absolutetly MANIC. He brings her into work on rare occasions. I walked into the canteen only to be launched upon by a small fawn and black bullet headed , popeyed missile that sounded like an asthmatic steam engine.
