Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Favourite Bauhaus Song
Good Morning, Good Evening, Good whatever! This being a Goth Forum Website thingomabob, I'm guessing that there's bound to be someone here who LOVES Bauhaus...anyway, I just wanna ask, what is everyone's favourite song? Mine's Double Dare, man, that song is psychadelic....

Crowds
"...Take what you can of me
Rip what you can off me
And this I’ll say to you
And hope that it gets through
You worthless bitch
You fickle shit
You will spit on me
You will make me spit
And when the judas howl arise
And like the jesus jews you epitomize
I’ll still be here as strong as you
And I’ll walk away in spite of you..."
Great fucking lyrics, and the song is sung and played beautifully.

One of my favorites:
Sanity Assassin
Sinister echoes clutching at straws
Letter boxes screaming
You try to pin him to the wall
You end up on the ceiling
Locked in a dome
The shadows flicker by
He's the madcap pusher
Delerium the drug he's dealing
He drops a capsule in your drink
And spikes your dreams with madness
He's the sniper in the hills
Hiding the holes in your head
He's the poison in your poison
The razor in your head
Hanging on a picture
Eyelid needle and thread
You empty yourself once again
But he's always one step ahead
He whispers in your ear
was it nothing that you said
He's walking in your sleep now
He keeps your fat paranoia well-fed
He drops a capsule in your drink
And spikes your dreams with madness
The sanity assassin
Stays up all night stalking
The sanity assassin
Picks off victims like flies
The sanity assassin
Let his fingers do the walking
The sanity assassin
The crack shot between your eyes
He's got you in his sights
He drops a capsule in your drink
And spikes your dreams with madness
The razor in your head
He's the poison in your poison
Drops a capsule in your drink

I think mine would be Nerves, off In The Flat Field. Love those cascading toms and plink-plonk piano, and the way it picks up in speed and intensity towards the end.
The Passion of Lovers, as mentioned, is a close second too.

Mine is probably "Dark Entries". I really enjoy the aggression and the tempo. Oh... and also "Fish Cakes"... that song rocks.

Spirit - (reminds me of Lestat playing Lelio in the theatre jumping through the rafters and singing so loud people's ears were bleeding)
Also:
Bela Lugosi's Dead
Silent Hedges
In The Flat Fields
And my favorite Peter Murphy song would have to be 'I'll Fall With Your Knife'

Would you find yourself [or]
Find yourself afraid to see?..." -NIN

Another relevant thread. I didn't actually come here to promote my show, but this seems sort of fitting. PodCast Dark Culture is playing a Tribute to Bauhaus this week, along with the various projects spawned from Bauhaus. Check it out: http://www.darkculture.net/podcast

She's In Parties
Learning lines in the rain
Special effects by Loonatik and Drinks
The graveyard scene
The golden years
She's in parties
It's in the can (twice)
Freeze frame screen kiss
Hot heads under silent wigs
Fall guys tumble on the cutting room floor
Look-a-likes fall on the cutting room door
She's in parties
It's in the can (twice)
Learning lines in the rain
Special effects by Loonatik and drinks
Freeze frame, screen kiss, hot heads, lights and power
It's patently obvious
She's in parties
It's in the can (twice)
Hot lines under a rain of drum
Cigarette props in action
Dialogue dub, now heres the rub
She's acting her reaction
She's in parties
It's in the can

Well I really liked their cover of "Ziggy Stardust." But that is not an original song now is it. So I suppose I would say "Hollow Hills."
Hollow Hills--
Ancient earth work fort and barrow
Discreetly hide their secret abodes
The most fearful hide deep inside
And venture not there upon yuletide
For invasion of their hollow hills
The music hold and oberon fill
Is surely recommended not
For fear of death in fear of rot
Hollow hills
Hollow hills
Hollow hills
Hollow hills
Baleful sounds and wild voices ignored
In luck disaster the one reward
Violated sanctity of supermen’s hills
So sad love lies there still
So sad
So sad
Hollow hills
Hollow hills
Witches too and goblin too and speckled sills
Lament repent oh mortal you
So sad
So sad

I love Double Dare, but I also really like their David Bowie cover of Ziggy Stardust. Both are amazing.
