Wolfmoon, one of your photographs got me thinking- the one illustrating your "sick day". I personally prefer photos of real people in real scenarios. "sick day" is probably the singlemost beautiful photo of WolfMoon that I have seen. It carries a certain truthfulness and innocence. Granted, her other photos are pretty as well, but they lack a very personal aspect.

Such as- It never even occured to me that she might wear glasses.

I've never been a fan of makeup or done-up hair. Empty_Purple_Stars looks 10 times better (and younger) without it. But don't tell her I said that. However, I must admit that the way she applies eye-liner is probably the most beautifully executed method I have seen in recent years.

This is a further extention of my previous post, which promoted honesty in photography:

One of my favorite photographers here at Gothic, is Gypsy. Because he offers us personal glimpses into his life- he has an extraordinary lifestyle to be sure. But his photos are presented in such a plain, matter-of-fact way. I get the sense that he truly appreciates everything that might come his way, even if only for a fleeting moment. He sees beauty in the most inopportune times, or when it is least expected.

One of his photos shows Military issued Meal Packets (MRE- Meal Ready to Eat). Such an odd choice for a photo, I would think, and the photo is [sarcastically?] named "a_banquet_gn". I happen to have a few of those MREs right here (My stepsons Dad is a Navy Lieutenant). Every variety I have tasted is EXTREMELY good.

They are packaged in a very sturdy, heavy plastic. This particular one that I have right here is "Menu No.9 Beef Stew". It contains the Beef Stew in a pouch, a package of shelled peanuts, a packet of Cheese Spread with Jalapenos, a package of crackers, a plastic spoon... and then a packet with misc items (a mini bottle of Tabasco, matches, iced tea drink mix, a towelette, gum).

The entire meal is cooked with a very strange chemical heater. By adding water to Heater Package, it literally gets hot enough to heat the stew. (I assume this can be used in circumstances to heat your body as well, although I wouldn't want to place it close to the skin. It will very likely burn you).

The entire packaging is obviously very rugged, waterproof... and nearly bulletproof.

While this is almost a novelty to me, I would think that Gypsy would do almost anything for a good homecooked meal right now. I really don't know why he chose to photograph MREs. But if it was me, I'd probably be saying "This is what I eat every day, I'd do just about anything to taste a crappy McDonalds BigMac again."

Gypsy, I felt really ignorant when you posted those pictures of MREs. I thought they were something my friend's brother had made up for playing RPGs! Randall is right, you really are an important contributer to gothic.net. Because of your posts, we see parts of your (as Randall put it) lifestyle that few outside people would see, and you do it in such an artistic manner.
