In further randomness....

Today I went through another razor. I'll clarify that I use them for shaving (seeing as how this is a gothic website). I'll further clarify that I use them to shave my face (seeing as how... well... you get the idea).

Anyway, those damn "Gillete Triple Edge" things are good for about three shaves, then they get all prickly and do more pulling and ripping than cutting. Three shaves is about a week because 1. I'm blond (though I do have rather aggressive facial hair) and 2. because I probably go a day longer than I should before I shave because I'm so lazy. A box of 4 of those things is like $20.

So I considered buying a straight-razor to shave with because for $10 for the razor and about $40 for the leather sharpener thingy, you can have a razor for the rest of your life. Of course, you can also sneeze and slit your throat and die. There is a kind of conflict going on in my mind:

Sensible Voice: Those things are kind of dangerous.

Manly Voice: Dude, you're shaving your face, not your pussy. Man up and buy the damned razor. What's the worst thing that could happen? You might save $150 a year.

Sensible Voice: Well, you could also spend $5000 at the hospital getting your jugular sutured.

Manly Voice: Is the jugular vain the one that flows past your aching vagina? Because that's what it sounds like. Buy it. Learn to use it. Don't be a wuss.

Sensible Voice: No, you could be a tough guy who the neighbors find lying on the bathroom floor in a pool of your own blood.

Etc...

So it occurs to me that there must be at least one excentric goofball who shaves with a straight-razor on this site. What's the word? Should I go for it?

Raindome-ness. That's a word that for some reason has often popped into my head when reading the title of this thread. You know, like a huge, artificial dome where it always rains? Puffy miniature clouds swirling under the ceiling, discharging a light drizzle on the exotic plants and lizards below... That sort of thing. Even if the real-world object is just like a showerhead thingy that spouts water...
