I'm not against fur/ meat etc. per se - just the conditions the animals are kept in. I'm not a vegetarian, but I buy free-range meat and eggs and would never wear fur. Personally, I just don't think it looks nice. A dead animal coat. Euw. I know leather's not that different origins-wise, but I guess it just doesn't look as obviously animal-ish.

I suppose, but that's just getting into a matter of personal preference as to how something looks now. Not eating something before you wear it.

mmm mmm mmm. Rodent buffet! Although, squirrel and rabbit are tasty. Yes, that's right. I eat bunnies. And I like it!
And I also like rabbit fur coats, stoles. I think they're warm and soft and fuzzy.

Oooh, that rodent comment was like a stake through the heart... I lost childhood hamster to a like-minded cat. Sob. Memories... Re-opens old wounds.
RIP Honey - sadly missed

I feed mice and rats (and i would probably feed gerbils and hamsters) to my snake, Monty.
He likes them live so he can constrict the life out of them...
...and then swallow them whole.

Sorry, but that was really funny. I had to do it. When I see people who are squeemish about the whole "my snake eats live cute things" subject, I have to go there.

I understand. I like to tell parents that all children are ugly. (Just the really smug ones who give an ain't-he-cute smile while their kid kicks you hard and repeatedly.)

Apparently some faux fur still has traces of animal fur in.& in some places cat & dog fur is used.

I know this post is kind of old but you could use those fun bleach pens to write on clothes too, those can do anything

On the chinchilla and mink thing--yes, I'd say we should eat them. I think it's really a shame that they are bred to die, and it takes like 30 of them to make a coat, doesn't it? That bothers me. I just don't like the idea of taking a life unless it's necessary. The whole feeding rats to snakes doesn't bother me, despite the fact that I love rats, because snakes need to eat, bottom line. You can't really feed a snake leaves and twigs.

You're telling me you would eat a weasel? That's all a mink is. And besides....their meat isn't wasted. Their crap isn't even wasted. You should take a look at this website.

yes some places are good and take proper care of their animals until the animals death, but there are not many like that. Many places have animals in cages that are too small, and too dirty, and they don't care for their animals at all. Some places in China don't even kill the animals befor the skin them. I never understood this because if the animals were properly taken care off wouldn't the fur be healthier and look nicer?

Yes...and furriers know that. That's why most places do take good care of their animals. If you were raising animals for fur you'd be stupid not to. And you can easily control that as a consumer by only buying the highest quality fur. If there's a fur coat with thin fur or bald patches, it's pretty obvious that the animal was not well cared for. Be a smart consumer...not a hater.

Well that's probably illegal. Mink are abundant and their fur isn't taken from the wild.

It is most definitely illegal.I think he's getting a fine or something.I'm not sure. But he was on a reality tv programme(Celebrity Big Brother) & it caused a frenzy with the media & one housemate who was a member of PETA.

uh-huh.They had a guy who was accused of murder when someone drowned in his pool & a 19 year old girl who had to pretend that she was a celebrity.
The guy with the monkey coat was a transvestite who desperately needed some trousers, as his ass was often on show. Now he was a walking fashion disaster...

he sounds it, and I hate that show sounds degradin. They could have toned down the people to someone who likes wearing fur to a vegitarian who has very strict beliefs but doesn't try to impose his/her beliefs on others. But I guess Hollywood doesn't care about peoples feelings as long as the raitings are good

I do not know if this little trend is happening around the country or what but what in all of Mary's womb is with the short jean skirts and the high-rise tights?
It is not flattering at all, ESPECIALLY matched with a long underwear-like top and a short jacket.
We have such trend following, no mirrors in their houses ill-willed when in the mall crap ballerina flat wearing bimboes in our schools here that it makes me want to implode.
And then again, I DO live in Wisconsin, where even our rich bitches wouldn't know Marc Jacobs from Chanel...pity.
Oh well, more power to me then.

Kelly Osbourne? oh yeah...I used to think she was amazing.I had my hair cut abit like her's once. Then people thought I was a boy.No-one will ever let me live that down.
Some of the stuff she wears now is ok.But her old image of 'teen punk' makes me shudder.
I feel that way with Avril Lavinge.Stripey tights, combat trousers, fake angst...oh god.
