From Frigid Flyover Country
Hello -
I'm a darksider from the Minneapolis circles.
I visited go.com's Gothic Cathedral, until that died. I visited Yahoo's goth chatrooms, but those are just foolish. We have a local board at gothling.com, but it often seems "music heavy", since that's the predominant artistic outlet among members.
I decided to try something new (new to me, in any case).
Again... hello.

I work for a company that sifts news from the web. I worked for a couple years, behind the scenes, with a local dark glam band, called All The Pretty Horses. I helped with their street team, flyering and what not. I am non-musical and sometimes artistic. If I had the time, I'd spend it sculpting or doing digital artwork. Of the two darksider haunts in the Minneapolis, I prefer Hard Monday, an event (I'm guessing) intended as a leather night at a local gay club, but the night people took it over. I collect toys, digital art, junk, and so on. I've lived in five decades, but I've been alive for less than four.

" She lived on a curve in the road, in an old tar-paper shack
On the south side of the town, on the wrong side of the tracks
Sometimes on the way into town we'd say:
"Mama, can we stop and give her a ride?"
Sometimes we did but her hands flew from her side
Wild eyed, crazy Mary"..
Welcome to Gnet.
Enjoy our Freakshow.

OMG I hung out with All The Pretty Horses!! Saw a show too at First Ave a good six years ago, back when I actually had time to enjoy the music scene.. You interest me much Gloom Cookie, as a fellow minnesota resident who knows if our paths have crossed..

Last I knew, it was 18+, but I'd call before showing up, just in case.

Nope. There's a wide range of outfits. Sure, there's a lot of black, but this place isn't a fashion show... unless, of course, they're having a fashion show.

Just to be thorough...
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a cybrarian, managing a growing list of websites (for a pay)
I collect digital art, drink lots of coffee, spend time with my girlfriend (as hobbies)
2. Where are you from?
a Minneapolis suburb
3. Who is your favorite author?
Stephen King. Call him a hack, but when he's at the top of his game, he's like a pair of old comfortable slippers. Scary ones, of course.
4. What are your favorite films?
New Waterford Girl, Metropolitan, The Last Days of Disco, Fight Club, THX-1138, Twelve Monkeys, The Village
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
The gothic opposite of the Chicken Dance. What is that, again?
6. At your funeral?
The guitar solo from Fletcher Memorial Home by Pink Floyd. Very processional.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I want to be flash frozen, like the guy in The Day After Tomorrow.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
Metal... black... rectangular... with black lining.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Long-sleeved velvety black shirt, black jeans, black shoes.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Utter freedom of choice... after the teeth were brushed, the vegetables were eaten and the bath was taken.
11. What's your favorite band?
Skinny Puppy
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
BS Degree in Art Education and English Education
13. Why did you join?
Other web-based discussion environments were failing me.

Oh man, you totally had me until that last choice.
The Village?
* Sob*
The Village?????!!!???
My Cornea actually melted during the screening..
I lost THIRTY hard earned IQ points watching that over-hyped pile of entrails.
Angels and Nuns died during the release to theaters nationwide
It was so terrible, it was painful. Physically painful to watch.
Joaquin himself, couldn't even rescue it from Eternal Damnnation..
My God man, save yourself before it's too late..

Hello and welcome. We like boobies here. Except some of us are gay. But really I guess that means they just like man boobies. The gay girls of course like girl boobies and not man boobies. I suppose we can't forget the bisexual boys and girls that like all boobies unless they are gross. There's even a few that either claim to not like any boobies, which can't be true, or simply haven't discovered boobies yet which is sad unless they are underage. We do not condone underage boobie worship or play of any kind. I think that about covers Gothic.net.
Ahem... boobies are great.

We'll have to agree to disagree, there.
Gloomy skies...
Those houses...
Secret communities... hidden away
William Hurt's speech patterns...
I rewatch that thing all the time.

They're swell.
I guess I can't really be blamed for the "boobie" content of my intro. thread.
