Plus, it's a sexual euphemism ... one that tickles my sense of humor much.
When I learned the slang meaning of taco, the phrase "taco bender" popped into my head and I laughed ... a lot!

Sound absolutely revolting! Must be one of the reasons why the life expectancy (and height) of the average USA citizen is decreasing.

You know, it would be really easy for me to make rude comments on the 'stereotypical' appearance of Britons probably having something to do with what they eat.
But - I know several beautiful and intelligent British folks, here on this forum.
So I'm not going to respond to your immature jab with more of the same line of comments.
Why don't you try to do the same and grow up...we try to find out more about each other's cultures on this site, not disrespect them.

Whenever my cousin goes to America she brings me & my sisters some back. It's very nice I must say.
I really wanted to put Vagisil in my 10 but it's the name of a thrush cream & isn't a proper word. It still makes me laugh though.

Here is a another classic use of the word in Red Dwarf :
`Why don't you smegging-well smeg off, you annoying little smeggy smegging smegger!`
--Rimmer to dispensing machine, "Only the Good"

I'm not commenting on stereotypes here - both life expectancy and average height are decreasing, and general opinion is that one of the factors is bad diet. For what it's worth Britain has one of (possibly the) highest obesity rate in Europe.

You really think that was 'unbridled hostility'? It definately wasn't meant in any offensive way. I just assumed it had similar nutritional content as Coke, Pepsi and other unhealthy drinks - please correct me if that assumption was wrong?

Phantasmagoria-One of my favourite poems by Lewis Carroll.
"And as to being in a fright,
Allow me to remark
That Ghosts have just as good a right,
In every way, to fear the light,
As Men to fear the dark."
Evanescence-a sudden dissapearing, like vapour. The band are a tad cliché though.
Illuminated-I'd prefer in moonlight rather than sun.
Occult-An interest of mine.
Entertainer-The first piece I learned on the piano.
Burlesque-The pretty entertain.
Caberet-The not-so-pretty entertain.
Crimson-The colour of life.
Ghastly-Who can't love the way this word sounds? Ghaaa- stley...
Eve-Human Nature.

*So [add in your favourite adjective].
*Fully.
*Schwag ["horrible" or "not cool". Also used to describe bad marijuana].
*Cutty ["cool"].
*HELLA! ["very"] +
*Moribund ["dying"].
*Anti-authoritarian ["against authority", "against government" or just "Anarchist"].
*Film-Noir [my new favourite movie genre].
*Collective [any group of people working on a common project and/or set of goals].
*Any word using the original U.K. English spelling [Examples: "colour", "mould", "programme", "inflexion" and "cheque". I attributed that to years of listening to/reading songs lyrics of English Heavy Metal, English Punk & English Gothic bands].

10 of my favorite words in the english language...not really in any particular order and complete with definitions:
Salubrious (it means healthy or sanitary)
infinitesimal (immeasurably small)
Phantasm (essentially, a hallucination)
Luminous (emitting light, glowing)
Salacious (essentially, lustful or bawdy)
Ubiquitous (omnipresent, seeming to be everywhere at once)
Infinite (without boundaries or limits)
Sentient (having sensory perception)
Effervescent (bubbly)
Onomatopoeia (a word that sounds like what it describes, ala "bark" or "meow" or even "crackle"...essentially sound effect words)

I think it's actually spelt Anti-antidisestablishmentarianism though I don't think that you would generally put the first "anti" in there.
It means that you're against antidisestablishmentarianism which means:
"opposition to the withdrawal of state support or recognition from an established church, especially the Anglican Church in 19th-century England"
Random House Unabridged Dictionary

Floccinaucinihilipilification... I think that's how it's spelled.
Conflagration
Devour
Antidisestablishmentarianism
Beaurocrat
Benefactor
Zerg (Gamer slang. It means to utterly overwhelm. A death of 1,000 cuts, if you will.)
Juvenile
Cherub
Gargantuan
These aren't in any particular order.

This is a sweet thread, I must say. Like a lot of you who have posted here, I like words that sound like their meaning. A little like onomatopoeia, but not so much "splash" and "boing" and other words that might appear during a batman fight sequence. Here's my ten.
Smoulder
It's a sexy word. The shape your lips have to make to pronounce the first syllable is like a pout, and the "der" is like a sneer. The embodiment of sexiness - invitation, then rejection...
Salacious
It sounds like you're licking your lips when you say this.
Superfluous
The word itself sounds overblown and unneeded.
Camouflage
Can't really explain this one.
Tortuous
Expresses the idea of being twisted and turned in a painful way by being so close to the word "torture"
Ambience
I like French words in the English language. They seem soft and expressive of ideas that are elusively abstract. (All ideas are abstract, I know. Some ideas are more abstract than others)
Stifle
This word seems to convey repressiveness by the overcrowding of consonants and the muffled "fl" sound.
Tendril
The sound of this word expresses the idea of something long, thin, and curling. Especially with the last "il" sound.
Excrutiate
This, to me, is a very painful sounding word. Except for the "sh" sound in the middle, the sounds are hard. The soft syllable in the middle is only a foil to the more rigid sounds.
Melt
To my ears, it sounds like sweet, slow transformation.
And since I saw "salacious" in Twistedkitsune's list, I will seize the opportunity to add another word... Altercation- it sounds like a very polite fight.
