That's what I was thinking.. you need the angle to make it fit.
Don't try to wear it, or you'll end up making it migrate.
I'd recommend a PTFE shaft, so it has a bit of flexibility. That way you can still wear the industrial without wrecking your ear.

PTFE is a plastic used for body piercing jewelry. It's flexible, can be used in healing piercings, hypo-allergenic, and you can cut it to fit.
An example:

I have shafts for both my tongue and navel.. it's great stuff

I am booked to have my lower back fuck up corrected and added to in about 6 weeks, and i'm already worrying. I did get my daughters ears pierced by my tattooist/piercer today though. He used a gun and she wasnt impressed, but they are straight this time, unlike the arse who ballsed them up 2yrs ago. He's still trying to get a date set to do my septum too, and I'm still pussying out of it.....

Piercing guns are the root of all evil.

I pierced mine with a gun but had the intentions of stretching
my lobes so it didn't matter at all. At 11/16" now. Very close to
an inch.

Piercing guns are fine if they are done properly. Mine were done with a gun a long time ago and are fine. I want to put slightly bigger jewelery in, but I dont want to stretch too much.
Septum I expect to hurt and I'm looking forward to the pain. I'm not looking forward to the arguments it will cause though or having to remove it for surgery before its healed. I may just get it done if he's not busy 1 day. It's how I ended up with a tattoo on my leg. Boredom!

No, they aren't.
Aside from being incredibly dangerous to use in a shop due to the risk of blood borne pathogens from being used more than once and being impossible to clean properly, they cause blunt force trauma to the ear. This is unavoidable because the earring used isn't hollow.

Doesn't matter if you plan to stretch.

Mine didn't hurt that much.
It hurt all at once and then was fine.
My conch piercing didn't hurt being pierced then hurt a ton after.

Yes it does. It's still bad for your ear just like it's bad for ANY part of your body. It also leads to keloids often.
Plus--I wasn't talking about you, an adult capable of making your own decisions, no matter how irresponsible and unsafe I think them, but her daughter, who is a child.

I'm very aware of all the risks.

Then why let them use a gun on your daughter?
If anyone so much as came near me with a piercing gun I'd scream bloody murder.

But you thought it was still appropriate?
You're very aware that you could have exposed your daughter to any number of diseases, INCLUDING HEP AND HIV, and did it anyway?
...that's as close to insane as anything.

You really do have your head stuck firmly up your own arse dont you. Do you ever pull it out and actually pay attention? Loads of kids have their ears pierced with a gun STILL. It's done all the time. Stop acting like I'm the first parent on the face of the planet to allow their childs ears to be pierced with a gun.
Piercers where I live, for some strange reason, are reluctant to pierce under 16yr olds with needles, even their ear lobes. I dont know why. I assume its because of the trouble a piercer got into for piercing a 12yr olds nipples. Who knows!

That doesn't mean it's ok to do it.
People get mugged every day, so there's no harm in me threatening someone with a knife for their wallet.

So you live in an area with incompetent piercers?
Find a better one elsewhere?

I live in an area with 1 incompetent and the rest reluctant. Whats done is done. Shes not the first child to have their ears done that way and sure as hell not the last. If it was that heinous an act, jewellers and places like Claires accessories wouldnt be allowed to continue to pierce. My daughters 12. She asked for it to be done, and I simply agreed. She was given the choice right up to checking the dots to the gun being placed on her lobe. And believe me, shes confident enough to say no. It's not like shes a baby and was held down for it!

Did you explain to your daughter the dangers of having ears pierced with a gun?
If your piercers are "reluctant" then don't bloody use them.
They're obviously not as good as you think.

Yep, I explained to her all about blunt force trauma, and the risk of repeating the last fuck up the jewellers did, and the problems with keloids etc. She still wanted them done. My other daughters want theirs done but the rule is they have to be 10, so I have a few years left to convince them to have theirs done with a needle!
As do I judge, which is why my daughter had hers done at 10 years and again at 12 years. She was old enough to make the choice herself.
