The musicianship in 'Something Wild' era Children of Bodom is pretty good, other bands like Arch Enemy (not quite sure about their lyrics), Moonspell, Green Carnation, Emperor, Monster Magnet, Sonata Arctica, Sigh, Sign, early Mayhem, Melechesh, Ephel Duath...quite a mix. But one of the best metal bands in my opinion would be '...And Oceans'. They're now called Havoc Unit, and I'm not sure what they sound like now, but their last album 'Cypher' was pretty good.
