My moods change
I just don't get it
Nothing has to happen, I could wake up and everything is great, than an hour later out of no where I will feel bad, not about one thing in particular but just in general. One minute I feel like I'm on top of the world and I think that I should have never worried about myself or anything in general, then some time later it all flips.
This isn't about attitude on life or some kind of peer pressure bullshit, it's all just internally me. I don't understand what's going on

I get that sometimes, though more often than not it does have a cause (though not proportional to the amount of mood change).

Yup, the same thing happens to me as well. Although, it usually does have a cause.

I don't know, this just feels very random and it's really dramatic. Like, I feel VERY happy when I feel happy, and confidence is up, and everything just seems great, and when it's the bad flip, absolutely everything feels gross.

Well, you'll understand when you are older... *snicker*
moods and emotions are nothing but internal chemicals and reactions to internal and external stimuli. So nothing could be there for you to react to, and yet you get pissy for no reason. Welcome to seratonin 101. Part of it is (forgive the generalisation) your age and the brain being more out of whack than it is on an adult who is, theoretically, more stable (not always true).
Diet, sunlight, sleep.. all simple things, these fuck with you. Tink chips being worn away or swept into.

Even though my mood swings usually have causes, they're often out of proportion to what caused them. I seem to just be highly irrational in some ways and way too logical in others. And then my moods follow other, broader things (and not just monthly curses, either :P) that have no apparent attachment to seasons or months or anything.
Heh. And I'm not even a teen any more. >.<

Hey, your age isn't the sole root. I'm just sayin' that it escalates the situation from regular mood crap to an occasional living hell. It gets better, but it's still all bullshit at 30. You just have a better handle on some of it. Some.

Yeah, I was being wry there. My moods have gotten better since my teen years. Heck, even since last year.... Actually, my moods were the worst last year. Bah! Never mind. I was angry and suicidal last year, and this year I'm quite manifestly content... that's about all I can clearly state.
I think the long transition from childhood to adulthood doesn't help either.

I know menopause can be a hard period to go through. But believe me when I say it that you'll end up stronger in the end.

AH! Alissa we never talk anymore
ok, back on subject.
Yeah, I've been there too. It tends to be caused by lovely mix of bad sleep and worse food in my experiences. Eat healthy and try to have a somewhat regular sleep, that might help. If not you'll feel better from those two things anyway. ^_^

I'll also add that sometimes you have thoughts bubbling in your subconscious that your waking consciousness is not aware of, that can cause such mood swings.
I saw a picture of a man dragging a culled baby seal along the snow leaving a trail of blood and thought, "what the fuck, that cruel bastard" but then I promptly forgot about it and got back to work (I was at work at the time). Three whole days of feeling fucked up and not knowing why, something just clicked and I realized why I was feeling so fucked up and cried for an hour straight.
I did feel a lot better after but I do realize the hypocrisy that I eat chicken, for instance, and don't think twice about it (chickens are raised in the most inhumane of conditions, not always but from what I've seen, mostly. They are living things that have as much of a right to life as baby seals and humans).

This is what is known as "life".
However, on a note of advice, I'd say that perspective - understanding the relative value and importance of day-to-day problems - is invaluable for helping moderate bad moods. :-)

Whatever the fuck it is, enjoy the highs as much as possible. Make the most out of it and find something that can cheer you up no matter what you're feeling like and try to think about it when the shit hits the fan. That has helped me in various situations, and I can only say that you feel better as you get older, thanks to experiences.
Take care, have a Berrocca and take a hug.
