Are you listening to your fear?

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

Occupation: Starbucks barista!
Hobbies: Writing, mainly; I plan on taking up violin soon. ♥

2. Where are you from?

Los Angeles, CA.

3. Who is your favorite author?

How can I possibly choose one? Let's make this plural, and in no particular order, because it's just too unfair of a question otherwise:

[x] William Shakespeare
[x] Edgar Allan Poe
[x] Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
[x] J.R.R. Tolkien
[x] Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm [gotta love your faerie tales!]
[x] C.S.S. Lewis [since I'm listing children's faerie tale authors, why not! I love him!]

I'm not sure if poetry authors are counted in this question [at which I shake my head if they are not! Tsk! Tsk!], but I am also a very avid reader of Emily Dickinson.

4. What are your favorite films?

I expect to be the gothic outcast for not mentioning The Crow or TNBC in this list -- *dodges tomatoes and lettuce* -- but here goes [in alphabetical order]:

[x] Addams Family
[x] Addams Family Values
[x] Beetlejuice
[x] Batman Begins [have yet to see The Dark Knight still.......]
[x] Brothers Grimm
[x] Dracula [1992]
[x] Edward Scissorhands
[x] Elizabeth [with Cate Blanchett]
[x] Ever After
[x] The Chronicles of Narnia movies
[x] Little Women
[x] Monty Python and the Search of the Holy Grail
[x] The Lord of the Rings trilogy
[x] The Prestige
[x] The Village
[x] Young Frankenstein

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

Celtic!! ♥

6. At your funeral?

Everything ever put out by Dark Sanctuary.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

Loved. The rest doesn't matter so much. Does this sound more cheesy than morbid? I'm sorry, after all, I know this IS a gothic website. Don't fret, I'll come up with a whimsical, nightmarish death scenario just for you:

Perhaps my final years will see my as a depressed poet who lets the Green Faerie kill her through the bloodstream [extreme alcohol poisoning from absinthe]. My, quite the poetic way to go. Or perhaps asphyxiation by vomit [due to overdrinking my absinthe of course?] Perhaps even at the young age of 27? Hmm? Quite the rockstar way to go!

8. What kind of casket would you want?

Well, I plan on cremation, but I'll play along, sure!

Metal casket, half-couch style, with lavender-colored exterior [I think lavender looks lovely on a coffin, no?], and white Crepe interior. If I am married at the time of death, I want to be buried in my wedding dress. If I am not, I want to be dressed in a lovely renaissance dress, and -- oh, the outfit I want to be buried in wasn't part of the question? Now I'm just getting carried away. . .

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?

Depends on my mood, I like many diff-- alright alright, I'll play along! ;-)

Basically, lots of lace. Lots and lots and lots.

Mainly I like skirts/dresses, and IF I wear pants, it's slacks. Yes, I know, gothic fashion cliche, I don't like jeans. I really don't like them in their own right though, honest.

Boots!! My lovely boots! I use any excuse I can to wear them.

Finally -- what self-respecting, gothic fashion-loving girl doesn't own a corset? Honestly? Again, I'll use any excuse to wear my corsets.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

Oh god. . . um. . .

Not to make this sound like a depressing mopey whinefest of an answer, but I really miss how less evil people seemed. This is a double-edged answer though, since I am truly grateful to be aware of it now. Who wants to live in naive igorance their entire lives? It's a part of growing up. This is a very difficult question to answer. . .

11. What's your favorite band?

Again with the impossible questions!! How do you honestly expect me to pick one?!

[x] Siouxsie and the Banshees[listening to them as we speak!]
[x] The Cure
[x] Faith and the Muse
[x] Collide
[x] Theatre of Tragedy
[x] Leaves' Eyes
[x] Rasputina
[x] Emilie Autumn
[x] Nox Arcana
[x] Dark Sanctuary
[x] Dargaard
[x] Ophelia's Dream
[x] Loreena Mckennitt
[x] Portishead

. . . and many more.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

High School education; I plan on going to school in the future. I want to be a Crime Scene photographer.

13. Why did you join?

Like anyone else alive, I like to talk to people who share kindred interests.

This seems an obvious question?. . .

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?

I'm sure the talk of skirts/dresses/corsets/lace sent you placing bets amongst each other that I was a male, so I hate to let you down, but I am indeed a female. ;-)

Lovely to 'meet' you all!

I actually think the consensus is that those movies are lame. Welcome.

I know a girl who once wanted to be a crime scene photographer, or something of that nature, but then she dropped acid a couple of times and ultimately decided she wanted to spend her life dropping acid.

You would have been a 'gothic outcast' more probably if you had mentioned The Crow.

Welcome, I don't understand your title's question...

Agreed, although I do love TNBC (I can't help it, the songs are so damn catchy)

@ gothicusmaximus: That's my view on those movies as well, I wasn't sure who that would offend. I'm glad to hear it's the shared opinion.

@ Godslayer Jillian: My title is a line from my favorite Siouxsie and the Banshees song, "Voodoo Dolly".

I like the way you are specific and detailed in your responses, instead of hiding behind vague answers as some do to avoid flaming. It shows courage to be yourself. And you have excellent taste in literature and music too. Welcome.

Hey, I'm curious, if you're a Starbucks barista, are you unionized with IWW by any chance?

Holy CRAP you guessed all three!! Well this is a public forum, I'm sure everyone else saw my response as well.

Also, no, we are not part of any union [thank God], I was when I was a Starbucks barista working in Vons/Safeway -- if a Starbucks is inside of a grocery store/airport, they are actually not owned by the Starbucks Co. Those ones are unionized.

@ HumanePain: Thank you kindly! <3

@ gothicusmaximus: I realized I forgot to reply about the girl you knew who also wanted to be a crime scene photographer. I am sorry to hear about that. That's too bad.

I think I respect you more for not liking The Crow and TNBC. Seriously. The crow was just fucking stupid, and TNBC was dull as hell.

Welcome.

@ Tea and Cake or Death: Thank you!

Honestly, as far as TNBC goes, I don't think it's that bad. It's just not that good. I went to go see the 3d version of it when it hit theatres, and the animation is alright. But. . . meh. It's just overrated as hell.

I would totally hump your leg like a chihuahua.

The Crow was mindless fun, TNBC was slightly less mindless and slightly more fun.

@ JCC: I'm ready!

Hmm, I think I agree with you on the 'mindless fun' opinion! Again though, it's just too bad TNBC is so overrated; a sea of TNBC merchandise surrounds me [thank you HT], and going along with what Tea Cake or Death said, this makes it instantly dull and boring.

WELL, EXCUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!

Without that, you would've had hyper-mega win written all over you. Alas, you will have to settle for WIN.
