Cool Evanescence: Back to the really old roots

Quote:
Evanescence singer Amy Lee told Spin.com in a new interview that she is working on material that's very different from the band's sound. Lee revealed, "I need to show that I'm more than a one trick pony. I'm writing here at the house by myself and it's been really good. But I'd really like to do something different next. (The new songs) are definitely different. I feel like I'm going back to my really old roots. They have more of my folky and Celtic influence than ever before. And it's not all sad -- it's nothing I would categorize as Evanescence." Although Lee did not offer any more specific details, a solo album from her has been rumored for quite some time.

Lee did not offer up any information about the state of Evanescence itself, except to comment on the turbulent dismissal last year of guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray. Lee explained, "From the beginning, their musical styles were very different from Evanescence. I think to a degree they got bored or frustrated...Their writing just didn't work for Evanescence, and I have to do what's best for the band."

Evanescence released its last album, The Open Door, in 2006.

Lee's latest musical offering is a cover of "Sally's Song" for Nightmare Revisited, the latest collection of reworked songs from Tim Burton's 1993 film, The Nightmare Before Christmas..
This means that they're going back to goth rock, rather than metal... Back in the albums before the album Fallen...

Wrong choice but I'm glad.

Their later albums like Fallen and Open Door is how many people in this side of the world know their existences.

Sure, whatever. They still make me want to stab myself in the temple.

Here I was thinking Fallen was the first album. I guess it's back to Google for me.
