The whole idea of believing in "ghosts" is entirely illogical. Not once, in the whole history of science, as any evidence of the existance of "ghosts" come to light. I do however believe that a series of what may seem unusual occurences could lead the mind (or the mindless1 .. hehe that had to be done) to believe that it was the work of ghostly apparitions. But I do not fall for it at all.

"Life" to us is nothing more than electrical signals in our brain causing us to experience sentience (for whatever that means). And when we die, these signals merely end. There is no spirit and definatly no "ghosts" haunting us.

I was always that little kid who was afraid of the dark because I saw 'people' and heard voices. I've shut out the whole 'seeing' thing for the most part, for the past few years, but I'll still hear voices. Some I can understand, others I can't. They aren't always talking to me, but they're still there.

I had an odd experience a few years ago that really stuck with me.. I was a bartender at the time, working at an American Legion. One night I had locked the doors and started cleaning up. I left a glass on the bar and went to the back to lock up the other walk-in cooler, and I heard a voice call, "Hello? Hello?" It sounded like some older guy just walked in and wanted a drink. So I poked my head out into the bar area and didn't see anyone. So I called out, "Hello?" and got no answer. I called into the bathroom and again, no answer. So I went to turn things off in the kitchen and I heard a crash. The glass I left on the bar had broken into 3 pieces- one piece was on the bar, another was on the floor nearby, and the last piece had flown halfway across the room. That scared the shit out of me, so I hurried up and picked up the pieces and got the hell out of there ASAP, talking to the ghost dude as I did so, telling him he was making me uncomfortable and it was time to go home. LOL Thank god that never happened again. I'm such a wuss when I'm alone in situations like that..

Wow that's a pretty creepy one. I'm trying to get something so I can upload my evp on here, I have one that I recorded a few days ago, of a female voice and then there's humming and that was my first successful evp. It's interesting because I was hearing lots of feedback, but it makes you wonder if it's your mind or if it's an actual ghost.

I remember when I was away at boarding school, I was having a sleepover in the dorm with a few other girls and I was saying something sort of oddly- I hadn't been acting myself at the time, that I could see spirits or that ghosts were real. I don't remember this too clearly but all the sudden we all heard a 'knock knock knock!' coming from the inside of a closet. I don't know, it could have been another girl or guy playing a prank on us. It probably was though, I had also been seeing some swirling mists. The school was in Ohio, an old quaker school.

That acually sounds like a case of Schizophrenia.

I've got a cousin who's schizo.. But aside from bipolar disorder, I'm 'normal'.. whatever that means. And I've seen a lot of doctors in my time.

I'm undecided, I won't say I believe in ghosts but I do think that sometimes weird shit happens, and we're all welcome to a guess about what it was. But I absolutely love ghost stories, made Folklore class a little more bearable. We got a lot of great ones here too because before fifty or so years ago, ghost stories were published in our newspapers as actual news. I mentioned this in the Ghost Stories thread before but I just love this story, in an actual court case they used the testimony of someone who said he saw the ghost of the victim as evidence.

He said "I saw the man coming down the road, his face was pale, he looked queer. I got frightened, I said to myself, let Garrett Sears be dead or alive, that is him." He saw the man walk down to the Geehan farm. "When I met Geehan the next day, I asked him if that was Sears who went into his house last night." Geehan's head dropped and he answered "Sears didn't go down the road last night....unless he went down dead."

What is also interesting is that when they found Sears's grave, his hand was reaching out of the ground.

I read that story in Beyond the Grave by Jack Fitzgerald.

In my house, when I'm the only one home, I often hear doors on the other side of it slamming.

Once when My friends, my mom, Her friend, and I were all in the living room watching T.V. and telling jokes, the front door slowly opened. Were were all scared as hell (it was 12:00 am Exactly). The craziest part is that the door was locked ( My mom had checked about 10 minutes before.)

And coins are always flying around my mom:
When she was at work a penny just flew at her out of nowhere. Once when she was alone, and another time when another co-worker was around.

Another time when she was watching T.V. and I was on the computer with my friend, a quarter just flew out of nowhere to her direction.

Are they as you fall asleep? If so, that's quite normal. Like passing through REM sleep as one goes to a deeper sleep. I get that quite a bit and I really like it... I can never remember details in the morning, but one time I wrote down what a voice said before I slept and found it 6 months later. It said "Snerkels are splits in artistic matter."

Well, i don't fully believe in ghosts... would be like i believe 40% in ghosts. But that was rly what i heard!

I heard "after the beep" well really I heard sounds that didn't make clear words but the closest words that I can think of are "after the beep"
