More I don't want to pay money for clothes I'd have to buy from another country at five times the productions costs.

...You are a liar. At least on the expressive part. Every single thing you do and don, is an expression of you.

Seriously, you can't tell me that you just made some tartan gray and black bondage pants because you simply just couldn't help it and had no other alternative. You could have easily made a very plain pair of slacks, but no... they had to have a certain extension of your aesthetic, hence expressing yourself. You want people to view you as a goth or a punk or something. But don't be ashamed. EVERYONE has an image, from the most extravagant to the most mild.

Fashion... a bastardization of real art my ass. I bet people would be more moved by an expressive tee shirt before they're ever moved by a painting. If there's anything about fashion that it doesn't deserve is being put on a pedestal that steals the thunder of the painter and the composer. But this isn't the fault of the creative craftsman or artist that puts a few sheets of cloth together. That's people's fault.

When I said not expressive I meant fashion as a whole.
But I see what you mean and I actually agree.

They were good trousers right?
I also have a damn good pair of "slacks" I made for a wedding...

Mutilating T-shirts? I'm not completely certain what you mean by that. I did a Google image search of "Mutilated T-shirt", and I got this. While I can agree it's rather lacking in taste, I must point out that it's still art.

Fashion as a whole? While I agree that fashion isn't HIGH art, fashion is, by virtue of being a symbol of an idea, always expressive.

If you can give me an example of any kind of garment that doesn't express an idea whatsoever, then I'd be inclined to agree with you that fashion as a whole is not expressive. The sad thing is, it is. The thing that needs to be understood, that not all expression is as profound as we would all like to think.

Sure, a plumber could wear some coveralls with his tool belt around his waist, but the uniform he is wearing is expressing the idea that he is indeed, a plumber.

Think about it. If fashion as a whole wasn't expressive, then bondage pants and funky colored hair would not offend anyone in the least.

Very rarely does one ever put on any amount of clothing for nothing but the sake of function. Even when they do, the piece itself will express who you are. So if one looks like they just fell out of their closet or even tried to look as strictly plain as possible, they're still going to express an idea, weather they mean to or not.
