Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Same here. I like her voice, but something about the music that goes along with it just doesn't fit right.

It's not uncommon.
Even I think her music is a lot of contrived pretentious crap, and I listen to Regina Spektor.

Eh. I have only listened to a handful of Emilie's songs. I think Gothic Lol.ita is terribly catchy, and I constantly find myself singing it involuntarily when I pick up my Lol.ita book. But, Emilie Autumn is a terrible lyricist, and that turns me off from getting more interested in her.

I´ve seen her live, which was great fun. I sort of think she´s okay, and I get good response when playing her during my DJ nights, but I haven´t reached the "hysteric fangirl" stage yet, and probably never will. I much prefer Rasputina. But again, her live show was great. She´s funny.

Oh yeah, Rasputina is rad. I really wish I could acquire more of her stuff because I've fallen in love with her numerous times (but because of my lack of her music it fades away to be revived again much later).

Hmm, she has some songs I like and some that I can't stand. I feel like a lot of the lyrics are boring and uninspired, but I like that she doesn't seem to take herself too seriously.

See, I feel quite the contrary.
While I love her music, I feel that her voice is a bit too powerful and uneasy on the ears.

I feel like Rasputina gives us almost a "better" version of Emilie Autumn's music. I mean, sure they are different in ways, but they still generally have the same sound. I much prefer the vocals of Rasputina over Emilie Autumn's, though.

I honestly enjoy her music. Of course, I agree that her voice can be a tad abrasive at times, and she's definitely not the best lyricist; however, she's a great performer who puts a lot of emotion into her music (you'd understand if you saw her live) and simultaneously delivers catchy tunes. And there are times she can sing decently too, like in several of her compositions from her Enchant album. Her take on O Mistress Mine, and her song Willow are proof of that.

She's one of the artist that gives me mix feelings. She has catchy songs once in a while but then again, some songs I can't stand.

I think she's a beautiful girl, and although some sections of her music makes me cringe, in general I like her.

I know what she's going for, but she tries too hard and it makes her look like a stupid 16 year old. The music doesn't match her voice and it's hard for me to take anybody seriously who sits around making idiot faces into a camera and putting her hair in pigtails. Plus, wearing spoons around your neck is fucking stupid.

Decent musician. Mediocre vocalist. Terrible lyricist. Did I leave something out?

Not goffic. Just lame. She's the girl who'd sit alone at school cutting herself and eating paper, claiming goffic and kissing the ground Kittie walks on.
I bet she considers herself bisexual and loves the nightmare before christmas.
"Punktorian", what utter tosh.

I'm probably the biggest Rasputina fan you'll ever encounter.
*brags* I have almost every piece of merch available.
Emilie's -music- is good, her -lyrics- not so much.
She is gorgeous and her style is very unique, it's part of her allure.

I honestly enjoy some of her songs- Marry Me is on my playlist (I find it funny). I think her instrumentals- Willow and Organ Grinder- are good, too. I just choose the songs that I like from her and play those so I wouldn't have to worry about my eardrums getting grazed.

She also plays the viola/viola de gamba, harpsichord/piano, and the guitar. Pretty impressive in my humble opinion.

I think that Emilie Autumn is beautiful and I love her music. I've been told that my dress sense takes inspiration from Emilie Autumn.
