at my school the cheer leaders are all dressing in all balck and tyring to be someone they aren't and it really is gay i hate them and theyre trying to be friends with me and people they used to make fun of why???? i can't stand them i hate them soooooo bad they ratted me out 5 times now! i hate them! help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whoever wrote about being hypocrite that is very ture i think that the reason they are dressing this way though is because they are the avril type people and go with whatever the flow is and ratting out is basically tatle tayling(sp) so to say. these people they just piss me off so bad i get all worked up and excited!lol

KornChick, this isnt happening at my high school, cheerleaders stay with the cheerleaders, then you have the "gangstas"(sp?)..lol..then u got the punk / goths, and then really everyone else(im lazy and dont feel like going into detail)

With that being said and going back to your original query, get used to it. I had that happen many a time when I was going to school. People changed identities like opinions and in the end it's not going to matter because most likely you won't ever see these people again. And as for those pesky cheerleaders....lighten up. They may truly have changed and might be nice, or they could be heinous bitches. All the same though, just relax.

dude...wtf. i hear complaints all the time about how people who dress "gothic" are stereotyped and put into certain categories that they don't belong. so how do you get off saying preps this and preps that...if somebody wants to dress a certain way...then why the hell do you care? obviously they think that the punk style is cool...and if you consider yourself a punk or goth or whatever then you should be flattered that they are trying to immitate you. and if the rude people still say shit well...walk away and know that you are better than that person...just don't be a hypocrite.

In my senior year of high school, some of the popular kids went through similar changes. It's all part of growing up and figuring out who they are. Some of them became a LOT less superficial. I consider that a good thing.

The dangerous thing is if you don't want other people in the 'scene' because you want to feel special and different. If you feel resentful about other people joining because you feel less different.

In high school I was a nerdy, depressed kid who listened to a lot of Siouxsie and the Dead Kennedies. But I wasn't considered 'punk' simply because the group of punks didn't want me in their 'scene'. I couldn't care less...the only reason I wanted to hang out with them was so I could talk about music with them anyways. So, I didn't hang out with them. Big deal. But to them, it was a big deal.

In college, people called me 'goth' because I dressed in black and the music I listened to. I had no idea what it meant. By senior year, freshmen were coming to me asking me if so-and-so was 'really' goth, and I wondered why the hell I was suddenly an authority. Who am I to say what is or isn't 'goth', who am I to say that some 'prep' you despise has an older sister turning them on to VNV Nation or the poetry of Baudelaire.

Who knows, maybe that cheerleader is wearing black because she's sick of playing those social games and thinks that dressing in black will show the world that. Or maybe she thinks it's 'cool'. Or maybe she's pleased she's getting your panties in a wad by doing so. Or maybe she's heard black is slimming. Who knows?

Ah what is not truely understood here is that often people relate to something, but not relate to what it truely is.

They probably heard something about gothics or are actually imatating a different group that happens to wear black not knowing they have nothing to do with gothics at all. I've listed some on another thread that I don't remember.

While you may want to run away, why don't you find out what they think gothic really is? Then you can truely decide what you think. Usually men will dress however to try and impress women, but women have other reasons for doing things. Perhaps they think gothics are deeper and more sensitive.

One day they may realize they are not really gothics, but until that day might as well not make any new enemies.

Personally meeting a wide variety of people growing up, I started with gothic sooner than most in my age group. Buy the time everyone caught up they couldn't put the past away. Too bad really. No one is ever born gothic. You just go through awkward phases, decide that looks better. It's a fit or not. Considering gothics are very open minded, it is hard not to make a fit. Though lately I've been feeling more like a small Death Rocker. Death Rockers rule over everything. So care free and wild with their muscles and threatening looks. Yes, Death Rockers beat up Skin Heads, Skin Heads beat up Punks, Punks beat up Mods. At least that is what the movie SLC Punk said.

gothic is a way of life and an act of individualism

can people really be pretending to be someone? really, I hate everyone calling everyone posers are wannabes; if someone choses somthing, then they have made thier choice, just like I choose to dress and black and wear makeup and stuff. I think that though cheerleaders have done thier fair share of bad things, I consider myself better and will not stoop to that level. furthermore I think that most "goth" or whatever people are envious of the popularity that the preps have and once they become punk or whatever then it encrouches on thier territory and they feel thretened b/c the cheerleaders or whatever know how to be popular and about 80% of people who dress in black do so for acceptance from fellow outcasts (there is nothing wrong with that) and cannot compete socailly with the former preps. I think this is stupid, if you want to be goth and popular it isn't hard; I was very, very popular in high school it isn't that complicated; getting people to like you is a science read a few sociology and psychology books it should become apparent. granted most people have a more difficult time idenitifying with someone who looks different, it still isn't too hard. I have dated several of those cheerleaders and moreover I was respected by thugs, punks, freak, preps, and jocks, the only people who didn't like me were rednecks, and since I wore a trenchcoat they were afraid of me anyway. in "The Prince" it explains a very good concept to be popular. it is better to be feared than loved if one cannot be both, so if you fail at being popular then be feared.

It makes sense, but only IF you're powerful enough to defend yourself from the violence generated by fear. You see, fear rapidly turn to hate, which in turn begets violence. im so glad im not in school anymore. i suppose there was a bright side to the uniform thing i had to go through for three years. at school we all looked like sheep, outside of school i was that morbid chick that dressed all in black and hung out with the skaters. i didnt pay attention to them and they payed way too much attention to me lol. as for my last year of school, admittedly the public school system in canada isnt much better than that of the states but i was stoned for the majority of the year and one good thing about b.c., if you have the good stuff.. no one is mean to your face lol. damn people are easy to manipulate when you have what they want.

I think you need to become more secure in yourself as a person if this is all it takes to rile you up. The clothes do not make the woman! Personally, the thing I find most attractive about myself is my mind, which remains the same even if I'm not in my goth-wear. Seriously now, if I really wanted to shock people I'd just take off my clothes!
To get off subject a little, I too have been told " You're trying to be something you're not." I was upset,complexed,and amused by this for there was no truth in the statement! It was said by a girl who thought she was being my friend by trying to change me. I was trying to be something I wasn't because I wasn't who SHE wanted me to be. The friendship didn't work out.
Don't give up hope and try to find something more interesting to rant about,ok?

Hmmm I'm not really big on the punk sceen, but hey similar things are happening at my school, cept everyone calls the weird kids Goth. I get offended and bothered by it too. But hey, they are going through a phase unlike many of us who made up our minds a long time ago. I say let it pass somehow... if they really piss you off take a baton that the twirlers have and shove it up their ass :twisted: ....or maybe just take out bondage straps and start a school hazing saying they have to engage in wild obscene things that they wouldnt like - and not to mention, to explain they are called bondage straps and not suspenders ^_^

Lemme know your success if you do try my hazing idea (try not to get caught)....

Where I went to school there be fools that would dress like me, but on any given day I could decide to walk home and know that I make it home. Those fools mothers would got to be picking them up and shit my point is dressing gangster doesn’t make you gangster and dressing Goth doesn’t make you Goth. I guess its avail to a certain degree those fool got a litter more respect because of the way they dress but that was the only advantage gain.

You want to know what to do, you got to become pure f***ing Goth and show them what it’s all about.

I knew someone before they joined drill squad and later turned into a cheerleader. She was very intelligent. After she started to become popular, she turned into a total beep-beep.

It is hard to say whether or not she was really gothic. I don't know why I or anyone else is gothic. Maybe sometimes she feels badly about being a beep-beep and thinks by portraying open-minded tendencies she can get away with stealing away with some of her old friends. It shouldn't take long before they realize that bridge was burned and it was more to do with blowing people off and embarassing them in front of everyone, not popularity.

Works itself out eventually.

i know exactly how you feel. all these dumb blondes are wearing black nail polish and eye liner. it really pisses mme off. they look at me ( a goth) like i'm a cheerleader and the poser. wrong! i hate them. at least i have the guts to do dtuff on my own with out parents permission. and they tease me because i covered in safety pins( belly-button, ears,etc.) and the next day they have a thousand of them all over. posers suck!
