Help with logo ideas
Next semester a new organization is gonna begin in my campus.
SAY - Socialist Activist Youth. We believe that the name works because it's easy to say and the one syllable word has positive connotations: free speech, express yourself, and so on.
We're open to other suggestions for the name, but I think this one's the best one.
The organization will be as inclusive as possible for anyone progressive; from those who still consider themselves 'liberals' to real anarchists. Mutualists, trotskyists, syndicalists, all included.
But yeah, anyway, I would love to talk and brag about it and our plans, but I just need help brainstorming for a logo for the club. We won't be aligning ourselves with any existing socialist body so we can't use symbols that are specific to an organization, and the star is too boring.
Any ideas?

This is probably lame, but the first thing that popped into my head was an old MTV style (ish) open mouth.
It's "rad" for the young folks, isn't specific to a certain group, and has the SAY thing down.

Well I had some sort of an idea you could use, and it would've irked me if I hadn't made it before I went to bed... I apologize if it seems rushed or something... But it's at least a basic idea.. I'm not really big on political stuff so I'm not sure if it would fit what you're going for... but anyways, here..
And here's a somewhat softer version
I personally like the name you've already come up with. (That's why I used the letters)

A system that strives for equality and justice, an understanding of basic human decency, and brotherhood among mankind,
so slap on some pictures of skulls and rifles!!

Couldn't tell if that was serious or not. Sounded more like sarcasm.. But, you could always put a skull in place of the earth graphic and make a Y shape out of guns... if you were serious that is... >_> (I guess my idea isn't really in the right direction?)

SAY reminds me of mein comf, with the reference of youth, other than that it's okay. How's about LAG Liberal Anarchist Group?
Anyway, think my the logo could include abstract expressionist with the letter in bold red.

Obviously the logo must have the Y as a person with raised arms BUT one side of the person is male and the other female! Because that's not lame at all V_V

I like Mr. E's, but for a very simple logo that would focus on the connotation of free speach, you could place the letters "SAY" in a speach bubble and add a caption below. I might post something in a sec...

I know it is simple, but I didn't want to used any color or symbolism to tie it to other groups. You could add those later. Some other symbol behind the letters "SAY" would probably make it look a lot better.

It's gonna be a fist growing from the ground as a flower or as a maizal. I like it. Very chicano.

Why not have that, but then have pictures of something that the group of you have done in the past?
Nothing shows progression more than visual proof that your group does something versus just polite conversation.
