The Bitter Valentines Day Thread
I'm surprised this hasn't been created yet. Or have I overlooked something?
Anyhow, that dreaded day for singles is fastly approaching. I want to know what the single, bitter, or anti-Halmark holiday people are going to do on this day.
Tell all your horrible V-day stories, the fun things you do with friends to tell V-day to fuck off, and the little tiny voice in your head that tells you even though you state loudly that you're anti V-day, you still feel dissapointment when you don't get anything.
Come on. Everyone know what I'm talking about. When I was single, I always made a point of being loudly against the holiday. But everyone that rolled by, I was secretly wishing some bloke would surprise me with an admission of love, or flowers, or candy, or even a little "I like you." breathy whisper.
The WORST V-day gift I ever got was from an ex. I have never expressed interest at horses, much less riding the smelly beasts through sewage. But one V-day, my ex surprised me with Horse riding at some cheap little place that let you ride the horses through a littered wash and back. Needless to say, I was not charmed.

I don't care much for Valentine's Day, and that doesn't make me an anti-Valentine's Day person or isn't it because I'm single at this point in time. I just think the event is just too over-rated and isn't what I perceive to be a special day.
If a man gives me a bunch of red roses, I'll be happy. If not, I'm not going to cry and whinge all day.
Valentine's Day, just another regular day that people give a "special title" and make it to be an extravagant day.

I've yet to be in a relationship over Valentine's day. I've yet to be fawned over, craved, desired, longed for, etc. over Valentine's day. As rockandrose stated, it's just another day.
Though, to all those who do have somoene with which to share the day, more hope for them to enjoy it, I say.

I myself have not been with anyone on Valentines Day either. It never really bothered me, except for when I was younger. I do however love the sales on the candy they try to get rid of. One time I recall giving myself a valentine and I forgot about it through the day. However when I returned home, there was a Valentine waiting for me. ”I'm in love and someone loves me.” Or either cupid shot an arrow in one my "idle" hands.
Either way if it was not for all the candy and neat cards I would forget it even existed. Well maybe not entirely.
Juno, Rome and Saint Valentine, thanks for the candy but not the memories (at least with me)!
Well except for Valentine, he was beheaded and well you know the rest. From a man's beating, beheading and finally martyrdom, it became a holiday where we can fill ourselves with candy and not feel guilty. And there I go with blatherskite once more…..

My friends and I used to make Un-valentine cards. We'd get together with some construction paper and glue and scissors and design angry little messages of hate. Some of my favorites were:
"To My Past Love" - "Roses are red/ Violets are blue/ I've found someone better/ So, hey- fuck you!" (complete with broken heart on the front).
"Happy Valentine's Day From the Manson Family" (cunning bloody knife on the front; the inside message read, "We want to kill you.")
And the ever-popular "Happy VD!" Lotsa hearts and a usable condom inside! Everyone who received one of these made good use of it.
Good times.

As a Valentine's gift, my ex did something I thought was extremely nasty - he sent me a pair of unwashed underwear!
Needless to say I gave him a call, and I let him know that I wasn't impressed.
Never really been impressed with Valentine's day myself either. Never really paid all that much attention to it.
When I went to school though, they did this really annoying thing where they would announce who got valentines, and after they would announce the name of the person who got valentines, they would announce HOW MANY valentines that person got.
Really fucking petty annoying.
Thank gawd for graduation, hahaha!

Hopefully I'll be Minneapolis by the dreaded V (not Victory)-Day.
I'll go to The Nineties (they probably have something going on).
It would be nice to get laid... it has been awhile.

Valentine's day memory?
It happened to be a day off that time, And the silly Chris boy was playing games with me.. Some freaky treasure hunt kinda thing.
So eventually, I was lead to a park bench and there was this white rose laying there. Intoxicated by idiocy, I sat on the bench, gripping onto the rose and false hope.
Minutes turned into hours and I couldn't wait any longer, frustrated, I headed home, cursing under my breath and where did I see him?
Passed out on my lawn with a black eye.
Happy fucking Valentine's day...sheesh *tears yet another cheesy love card*

My Thoughts on Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a corporate conspiracy to further profits, using the vulnerability of the female ego and the horniness of the male ego as its chief marketing ploy.
That being said, I've only been in a relationship for one V-Day. I got an oil change. No, really - we put my truck on jacks and changed my oil. No card, nada. Bummer.
Me and the mister have decided to just buy each other a card and say something nice in it. That way neither person spends more on the other and we both are happy and get laid.
The End.

I think I have two major choices this Feb 14th:
a) Get drunk
b) Get things done.
Of the two, option B is by far the cheapest. Not that option A costs much as I rarely drink. No doubt a horrible cartoon will feature on the list of things to do. I wonder what Degnom would make of the annual Hallmark-driven dross that rears its ugly head at this time of year...

Valentine's Day sux. I think even when your not single and in an ok relationship, there is some sort of pressure to have a daisy's, hearts and rainbows kind of experience which is bullshit. Plus, it is crappy for people who feel lonely to have the happy couples thing thrown in their face. It is just another excuse to make money.
(realizes what a hypocrite I am for selling anti-valentines stuff on my site. .......*shrugs*....)
Maybe we can turn it into love thyself day and have synchronized world-wide masturbation moment! yay!

I agree - the other half and I don't do anything for Valentine's day. We're both students and pretty much always broke, and St. V has to be the most pointless day ever invented. Plus being given flowers makes me queasy. I'm really not a romantic person in the slightest, so I'd definitely go for the love thyself day - now THERE'S a day with a point...

Hey, that's OK. I think you should go tell him you want him back! I would do that. And btw, I don't even have a boyfriend so my valentine's was shitty too.

Yea,Xnguela's right.Besides, there's a French quote that says:"Suis-le,il te fuit.Fuis-le,il te suit."And,personally,I think it absolutely makes sense.
