Nut Job Message Hijackings

Anyone else notice how extreme nut jobs have hijacked the message on both sides of the political spectrum in America?

On the right, you have beck and limbaugh, both making crazy allegations and preaching far out ideas.

On th left, you have jones, icke, and a few others all preaching crazy stuff as well, including worldwide conspiracies and alien invasions.

The problem is no one is really looking at any real issues, and everyone seems to be losing because of this.

Granted, there have always been 'shock-jocks' and extreme pundits, but more so now than ever - and the mainstream media have now ventured into the fray reporting on what they find in random blogs and reporting rumors as news.

It's quite sad really.

I dunno, Sternn's really not that far out there politically. I used to think he was a complete wacko though. Nowadays, DeadManWalking kinda makes everyone in the political forums seem a lot more reasonable by comparison.

Hey Sternn - Beck and Limbaugh seem to be more hilarious than the lefties. At least I can stand to watch Beck if I am completely and totally bored and need a laugh but Limbaugh? Ha. I think not.

Jones is deffnitely not leftist; most of what I've seen from him is right-wing, or at least anti-communist/socialist conspiracies, and Icke isn't from America(but, admittedly we are probably the only people who listen to that bullshit).

It's obvious to me that all these people have strong financial backers linked to corporations or big oil (more obviously for Fox news, but the others have to be getting money from somewhere), so it's not surprising that they would just be a distraction from stuff that's actually happening.

Every time I see Rush Limbaugh I hope he yells loud enough that something pops in his brain and he drops dead.

My logic teacher was talking to us about how some people argue things without even having an argument. He said some people can't back up arguments they make. Sometimes when people are trying to make a point and they can't think of why their side is right, they just talk louder. That's how you know something's a bad argument-they have to back it up by yelling.

Limbaugh is a fat twat.

While lately Deadman has certainly had something of a monopoly on crazy, I really don't think that makes Sternn any less crazy. This is the guy who claims to support terrorist action from Hamas, the IRA, the Weather Underground and other assorted wacko radical groups. This is a guy who linked a website hawking T-shirts that advocated indiscriminately murdering protestants. This is the guy who's sole purpose here for months seemed to be turning every news story he could find (from itinerant electric bill payers to friggin kittens) into left-wing propaganda. I mean he's essentially the left-wing equivalent of Deadman minus the fear of moon-men.

I dunno, maybe the guy's turned over a new leaf. If he wants to convince me he's somehow morphed into a rational, thinking human being, This thread is certainly a step in the right direction; but until I see more I'm going to rely on the case of Leopard vs. Spots.

Admittedly many of them are in poor taste but none of them advocate indiscriminately murdering protestants.

Right here guy.

Hun = Protestant.

If that's not indiscriminate I don't know what is.

Your perception on the subject is very distorted. First of all, as pointed out by SweetJane, Ike and Jones are not leftists. Like Ron Paul, some of their message resonates with idiots on the left who never get past the sound bites and never delve into their actual beliefs. Both are just as much of right wing nut jobs as Deadman. In fact, they're the types of "leaders" that people like Deadman worship.

Second, you're using a very false equivalence as both Rush and Beck are mainstream conservative pundits and our left wing nut jobs are either mocked or ignored.

Finally, there really isn't a solid left here in the US. At least not one that would be recognised as such anywhere else in the world. What is considered the left here tends to be very centrist when compared to Europe or Latin America. Our socialist party has one member in Congress, who doesn't even run as a socialist.

I agree with Onyx... pretty much all we have on the Left are Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow, and they tend to stick pretty much to the democrat party line. And yeah, our only socialist, Bernie Sanders, runs as an Independant.

I feel like the closest thing we have to the "Left" are like my Union construction worker uncles and cousins in Chicago whose parents and grandparents came to America and saw how labor unions and other protection for workers improved their lives. They're not so sure about gay marriage, but they understand that weekends and overtime pay didn't just appear out of nowhere.

And then there are also the over-educated champaigne socialists who are more worried that their coffee beens are organic than if the grocery store they bought it from has organized workers.

Even among the Democratic Party there's only a hand full that you could actually call left, at least on the national level. Off the top of my head there's Sanders, Kucinich, Feingold and, maybe, Dean. The bulk of the party is made up of "Blue Dogs", who are Republicans in all but name, and people just far enough left of them to appear left only within the confines of US politics.

Ugh, Anne Coulter is the one that bothers me the most. I can stand just about anyone because for a lot of them you either get mad and ranty and feel good after your rant, or you just have to laugh at their idiocy. Or maybe cry because people eat this shit up. Coulter however just leaves me speechless and I just can't deal with it, I don't know what it is.

It's really frustrating to try to argue against someone whose entire career is based off of sound bites and lies... and when you show that she's lying she calls you boring and tells you that you shouldn't be offended by her bullshit. She's a SNAKE (in the biblical sense).

Huns is not a reference to protestants, it refers to unionists. Big difference.

Do you even know where that phrase comes from? It refers to the unionists who like the huns - invade, steal resources, and kill off anyone who gets in their way.
