As much as I've been trying to avoid this thread, I guess it's about time to start moving all of this baloney around.
Moved to General.

Have you got anything without spam?
Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
I don't want ANY spam!
Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
THAT'S got spam in it!
Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
(vikings start singing)Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Urgghh!
What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Shut up!
Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Shut up! (Vikings stop singing) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam.
I DON'T LIKE SPAM!

SPAM really stands for "Shit Posing As Meat", not "Stuff Posing As Meat" as Bill Engvall so politely said. The only good thing about spam was the Monty Python sketch.

Aughahahaa!
You're talking to a spamspawn! When you're coming from some realdeal ghettoness, back in the day ramen with spamcubes was downright gourmet grub. Yum!
Though I'm in rememberance of adolescence when I got involved with UUs, or Unitarians, who I still roll with. A good friend and I were playing mailbox mobbing with our mailboxes at church, sending our young lady of Tristianity mysteriouslysweet messages, reading...
YOU ARE BETTER THAN *insert badthing*
There were some funnyass things going down all around, but no funnier than when I busted out...
YOU ARE BETTER THAN SPAM!
Heahahahee baddest of badthings! Even badder than using superglue for lube, or using broken glass for contats, or even a needle in the cock.
*sigh*
Ah...the good ol daze...

i can't remember how old i was before i learned that spam was supposed to be "gross"....
when you grow up and have various periods of time where you live in places that you may not necessarily have electricity, much less a fridge.....
things like spam become a way of life....
spam, vienna sausages, tuna, "potted meat" (ok, i did draw the line there...couldn't eat anything that looked and smelled like cat food), deviled ham & chicken, etc....
often that's the only source of "meat" you can have.

OTFW!
I reminisce...
That's it! Such is the sweetinnocence of youth. That we didn't know any better, and that everyone we knew in the hood knew no less.
So what if we didn't have electricity all the time. We called it "candlelighttime", and goddamn if I didn't love some candlelighttime! Sometimes I wished that the electrobill was paid even later and less often than was, because it made what darktimes in life we had fun, because I only saw light! No amount of money would have made those times any better, with what little was had, there was so much more.
I wouldn't take it back.
I remember being really scared of the big spider that made it's residence in the fridge!
And through what little bit of chinese blood that courses through my veins, and my collection of chinese classics, allow me to consult my little Tao Te Ching for you randomly...
Fame or integrity: which is more important?
Money or happiness: which is more valuable?
Success or failure: which is more destructive?
If you look to others for fulfillment,
you will never truly be fulfilled.
If your happiness depends on money,
you will never be happy with youself.
Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.
Interestingly on point.

Throughout Oahu, in the ABC stores that cater to tourists, you'll find Spam sushi: a bed of rice, a slab of gelatinous processed pig, all wrapped in crispy seaweed. Actually, quite good.
I remember potted meat and Vienna sausages, though I had to cook the Spam to eat it. But my favorite was the macaroni bought in big bags, boiled, then covered in V8. Both carbs and the vitamins. I lived on that in high school and, oddly, still crave it.

oh, yeah.....spam definitely had to be cooked.
i always liked mine kind of black and crispy on the edges.
never tried (or, honestly, never even heard of) the mac with v8.
our macaroni dish of choice was mac & cheese with sliced up franks mixed in.
think i was in first or second grade when i realized it didn't come that way.
i'll never forget the look on the lunch lady's face when i asked here where the wienies were.
i felt SO ripped off.

If you bought the big bags, and not the Kraft stuff in cartons, then you paid a lot less for the mac. And, I'm sort of embarrased to say, V8 was a lot cheaper than cheese.
Weenies! Why didn't I think of that?
