I've changed my mind. The story of Jesus is probably one of the most beautiful stories ever conceived.

Is it? I'll look into it.

But have you seen Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter? It has one of the best punchlines I have ever heard.

"It's Jesus time."

This musical has so many layers and perspectives that you could do a serious study on this thing. It's actually important.

Honestly, everyone needs to see this thing, like 3 times at least, you pick up on so much more with each viewing.

It is HORRIFYING and AWESOME for so many different reasons.

My dad is an atheist but its the only musical he really likes, growing up I found it weird that it explained the story of Jesus far more effectively than Sunday school or Bible study class did.

I've got an bit of analysis coming.

It's really the best musical I've ever seen. Both acting, music and story wise.

This is show is genius.

This is not trolling. This show is one of the smartest works of art I've ever seen. It's honestly up there with Gaiman, and Shakespeare.

Stand by.

We had this really interesting thesis going on throughout the musical. I would have written an essay on this, but because of school and the scale of the thesis, I left it to a more... qualified writer.

The main thesis. Jesus was just a religious reformer, one who challenged the authority of the Pharisees by attempting to make the temple a more communal experience in the midst of a social revolution. Within that revolution under the threat of brutal Roman authority from a slave nation would terminate to the creation to a messiah.

In our school it was popular to sing "Jesus Christ, Superstar, whizzing round the corner on a Yamaha, did a skid, killed a kid, scrapped his balls on the petrol lid."

We were all class.

Could you rephrase that last sentence?

Not "to" but "for" the creation of a messiah. Essentially, when John the Baptist was speaking of a man coming along and being greater than him, he was trying to give the people hope. He planted the seed of the messiah within his people and with that, their fever dream eclipsed the man Jesus by the imposed mythoes of Jesus by the desperate nation of the Hebrews at the time.

God damn it, I'm trying not to ruin this. Seriously, this is about to become a damned good discussion. Just wait for the essay that Desp is about to drop.
