By posting your stories on this site, you just gave Gothic.net the rights to a first online edition.

It can put off publishers to know that what they want to sell might be found for free online, so you should think about that a bit before posting anything of yours here, alright?

Red face Published here?

To The Powers That Be:

I recently saw a note in a writer's bio that he "has published on Gothic.net" among other things. (This was in reference to a fiction story.)

Is having a story published here still possible? Rather, will it be after all the changes are made? Or does this mean the above writer just posted it on a message board?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I looked through the General board and the newbie post and the other Lit topics and couldn't find an answer. Hope I'm not bothering with this question.

Do not mistake one publishing him or herself on the message boards, and one being published by gothic.net. Out of the few credits I have, being published on gothic by gothic.net, is one I treasure, and am heartily proud of. I respect the editors here, the readers, and have come to think of these people as an extended family of sorts.

Long story short, if you haven't had your chops baked in the fire then don't go serving them for dinner.

'Nuff said.

Thank you for clarifying, Tstone. That makes more sense. I didn't think someone would note in a bio posting to a message board. Having been chosen by editors is respectable and indeed something to be proud of.

So I'll assume that the published work area is something that is just down for now and will be back?

Yes, basically.

I would recomend you post nothing on the message boards that you might want to make some money from in the future. I think that's as basic as I can put it.

Write short things and post them. That will allow peope to comment/flame/criticize your writing style without you having to give up something you have higher hopes for.

Write something that people would want to read, for starters.

actually, i'd argue to write whatever feels right and don't cheat it by trying to figure out if someone wants to read it or not.

but that's just me.

Thumbs up Dead Lovers

WEll DEAD LOVERS is doing fine by me....jumped from approx 19 to 42 over the weekend and has overtaken THE COUSINS.

WOMAN OF DARKNESS is only politically acceptable as the modified DEAD LOVERS. No racial elements can be allowed to enter into it. It also seems to be doing well at around 98 hits.

Only read Dead Lovers so far and am mildly curious to see where you're going with this and where the doppelganger persona will come into play...

Lucia Lost: Now that you've said that (about wanting to be published) please be careful who comes to you and offers to publish you in their anthology, there is one in particular who fancies himself a horror writer.

He's just a horror.

Horror is alienation. A stranger comes to a strange town and takes work with a legal company. He befriends those he thinks are friends and companions. They turn out to be demons disguised as humans.

Has anyone read Nathanial Hawthorne's YOUNG GOODMAN BROWN?

That's right. If GNet didn't pay you, they didn't publish you.

Mael:it represents WTF, as in "what the fuck are you talking about." or "what the fuck are you smoking that you didn't get that?". EPS's perfect use of that...well I've heard it called the WTF Creature because when you look at it, you say just that. Sadly, everytime he/she posts, Faustus makes the whole board collectively WTF.

I'd say the majority of goths daydream about being writers, just like the majority of urban negros daydream about being rappers. The reality with both cultures is that the odds are worse than one in a million. Get over it and get a job at macdonalds.
