Christian Goth?
Hallo i am new here and this is my first thread, so if i hope i haven’t don anything wrong. I haw a little problem that i need some help solving:i am a Christian, but haw recently discovered that i haw a lot of the personality of a Goth, i always had it, i just didn’t know it before. I don’t haw anything against it, not at all. To be completely honest i like’s it. I am not afraid of the dark sides of life and loves poetry and al forms of art so it’s only my Christian fait that’s "stands in the way". So i ask thee: is it possible to be a Christian Goth?

It is very possible. About half of the Goths I've met in my life have been Christian, then about a third are Pagan, and the remaining sixth are miscelleanous other religions. Being Gothic doesn't have too much to do with religion, I don't think. Sure, it meshes better with some religions, such as Neo-Paganism which is very open, and while I'm not Christian myself so I wouldn't really know, it does seem to mix well with Catholicism and other branches of Christianity.

You're not alone. And yet, you are so alone. I know the feeling, though. I just do not fit into the mold.

@Alaizabel Cray
I'm Roman Catholic, and you bet the two mesh well if your inclinations run that way. A lot of it simply has to do with personality and perspective of the "goth in the pews".

I personaly think it does. Depends, of course, on the perspective in which one views religion. Being gothic means reflecting on life and searching for some "truths" or whatever you wish to call it and also respecting culture and tradition (I do, in any case). Religion, in general, does the same. Which religion you have, is another aspect but I don't think it matters. Belief in the sacred is a very gothic attitude, methinks.

Yes, being Goth and being religious do kind of go together, but what I was trying to say was that you don't have to be of a certain religion to be Goth, or have to be Goth in order to be of a certain religion. For the most part, in any case. There are many religions that I do not understand well, or simply do not know enough about, so I can't say for sure. But to me, the Gothic lifestyle seems like it could be adapted to fit most other values, as long as the core elelments are stilll in play.

I am a christian goth and most of my goth friends are atheist, wiccan, pagan, and etc. I respect all of my friends, no matter what religion they are. And there are other goths that are christian, !!!just ignore the gothic stereotype!!! But gothic, as for me, is a sense of lifestyle, I don't see anything deeply religous.

I'm Christian... and I have some Christian Gothic friends, from the same church. It is altogether possible for you to be both as Goth isn't necessarily Satan and Blood. You could embrace the dark side of spirituality... like I tend to do.

Personally I think it's a matter of perspective, the way you view christianity and religion in general and your opinion on Goth are up to you. No one can tell you what is the correct way to think of them.
Sorry, am I missing something though, "haw"? Is that merely a painfully annoying recurring typo or am I out of some grammatical loop here?
Also as far as i am aware "I" is usually in capital letters.

Well, Dark Templar did say they were form Norway, I believe, and while I don't know speak Norwegian, in some European languages, such as German for instance the "w" makes the sound that a "v" would in English. So assuming that English is not Dark Templar's native language, it's a simple mistake I think.

Wow, that post was messed up. Random words thrown in and a big run-on sentence. Jeez. Sorry about that.

Yea! Sorry about that. I have Dyslexia (Writing disabilities) so I am doing my best to get, at least most of the words right.

I"m Roman Catholic and a Christian Goth. Goth isn't all about Satan and Blood. That's pure crap. It's more about getting in touch with ur dark side, drawin ur own canvas. I, for one, enjoy poetry, anything victorian etc...goth is a way of being and living the way christianity is a way of being and living. U don't have to worship satan and go to black masses to be goth...lol...For me, goth is serenity and being christian brings more serenity to me ( no offense to other beliefs or religions)

I believe in God. Really the main reason that Christians don't appear to be well accepted in the Goth scene is because they may cause problems for others.
Personally, I am feeling a little slighted today, so just going to get in to it.
Gen 18: God talks to Abraham.
Genesis 18:23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
Genesis 18:24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
http://www.tstl.net/Bible/genesis-18.asp
Now this goes down like this for awhile. Even 20? and so-on. Instead of, having a message of salvation, in which every righteous person bares the burden of striving to find mercy from God, the story of Sodom and Gomarrah is used in ruthless propaganda against Gays and abortionists.
So much for loving your neighbor. Maybe your neighbor is only your neighbor if you go to the same church. Yet, Jesus traveled everywhere and didn't condemn others for not being jewish! Ya. Part of why he was such a great guy is everyone was his neighbor despite their religon.
Then tying these together, why do Christians feel so self-righteous in hurting everyone else?
Everything is okay when your one of them. "Just go repent. You're still going to Heaven." Maybe I don't want to repent for anything. Maybe I just want to be a descent person.
In fact, ****** a woman that is a different religon would be even worse. That would be making a woman sin against her will, while a Christian woman can just go repent. That's really aweful if you think about it. Yet through history, it seems Christians have justified it with, "They are already damned."
Then we go into Exodus 22: Exodus 22:16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
Exodus 22:17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
http://www.tstl.net/Bible/exodus-22.asp#17
That's right, but how many times has a man laid with a woman that was a virgin. They didn't marry her. They didn't give money to their Father's. Instead, they call her a "whore." Then she has the opportunity of being treated like dirt before and after the marriage.
You see, maybe you are Christian Goth. I am drawn to darkness as well. It is an interest. Yet, if you want to impose your ass backward man-made religon on me, then I don't support you in anyway.
No where in the bible does it say smoking is a sin. Nor does it say that you can't drink, you just should drink alcohol in excess. Oh yeah, worshiping pictures of anything supposed to be a God is a Sin!

I respects others opinion on things, and i don’t want to push my religion on anyone. I’m not a catholic, nitre am i a protestant, i am a personal Christian i have my one meanings in what stands in the bible and what Gods will is, and i dont think drinking or smoking is a shin at all. Jesus made water into wine so he can’t have anything against drinking.

Thats a good view, I'm christian as well and being a goth does not affect my faith. Its all a question of "does this affect my faith?". I don't smoke becouse personally I think its horrible and gross. And drinking, well, in moderation, sure nothing wrong with it, but I probley won't do it becouse heavy drinking is on both sides of my family so if I drink just once, I might get hooked and become alcholoic (Sp?). My dad told me about why he has so much pain in his body: He got in a truck with 3 friends, they were all drunk, and the truck ended up rolling killing all 3 of his friends, but he was thrown from the vehical and lived. He says if it was'nt for gods grace he would'nt be alive. He should'nt be alive. But he is. Thats enough for me, I don't want to mess with that stuff, I like being in control of my body. just thought I might share this story with you.

Goth and any kind of religion or lack thereof go together pretty well... the main thing is not making a deal over your religion, because that makes people look like prats. We have a satanist in our local crowd, and because he's so very obvious about his religion he tends to be given plenty of room by others.
