Electrolyte here

Hello everyone. I'd like to say first I was rather worried about signing up on here since - well - I'm rather new to the goth culture. When I mean new, I mean I only started to dress up like one about 2 weeks ago.

On with the questions:

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm currently a college student doing A levels in Applied ICT (Information Communication Technology, computers in general in other words). When at home, I'm usually creating abstract 3D models on my PC, playing a few games, browsing a lot of websites and chatting with various Internet friends I have. Oh, listening to music and helping my parents around the house too (I don't usually go out with my mates since they live several miles away, and it would cost me a fortune ).

2. Where are you from?
Tamworth, England.

3. Who is your favorite author?
At the moment it would be Eric Nylund and William C. Dietz, but I plan to find some new books from other authors soon to read.

4. What are your favorite films?
I'd say my all-time favourite is The Andromeda Strain, but I don't really watch many any more. 28-Days Later is another of my all-time favourites.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I haven't really thought about it. I don't really plan to get married, reasons exclaimed later.

6. At your funeral?
Again, not really thought about it.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I'd want to die by either a vampire or zombie. Strangely enough, I have a wicked sense about being killed by either of them.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Dark wood with silver writing on, stating my gravestone information.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Hm, tough one. I'd say (so far) my favourite outfit would be black boots, black combats, my black shirt with 2 dragons on, my spiked bracelet, black varnished nails and long dark hair (not sure about being styled, still need to try some techniques on it).

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Being able to get up really early without feeling so tired.

11. What's your favorite band?
More than likely Midnight Syndicate, I haven't looked into much goth music yet.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
So far, a GNVQ Intermediate certificate which is classed as 4 Cs. I'm hoping to be a network engineer for computers.

13. Why did you join?
Since I'm new to the goth culture, I wanted to get to know more people around the same area and get some ideas.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
I'm male.

Well, nice to meet you all - hope to get into some discussions on the forum

Network engineer huh? Good way to earn a six-figure salary.
Make sure you learn TCP/IP, SNMP, and SMI-S, RIP and IGP, then you will be a network god, be given an expense account and be flown around the country. Cisco switches rule the corporate network world...but I digress.

New? (rubbing hands together with an evil grin) OK, the first Goth music I would recommend you listen to is Siouxsie and the Banshees, then Bauhaus, the Sisters of Mercy, Dead Can Dance, (looks around and whispers) Lacuna Coil, Morta Coil and...well that should be enough to get you started . I'll try to refrain from further brainwashing, there are plenty of other opinions around here! Oh, and Theatres Des Vampires! Heehee.

Welcome!

Ooh. And hello and all of that stuff. Welcome to gothdom. We hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask your local friendly vampire.

'Eck, you don't want to see both of my PC's desktops, otherwise I'll have a ton of questions thrown at me (well, most of the time I do).

Oh you had to ask

Okay, here's both of my systems.

My main machine:

AMD FX-55 ClawHammer @ 2.6GHZ
2GB PC3200 RAM (4x 512MB)
MSI Neo4 Platinum nForce 4 Ultra motherboard
ATI Radeon X850XT
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Tagan 600W Dual-Engine PSU

My server:

Intel Pentium 4 Northwood Extreme Edition @ 3.2GHZ
1.5GB PC3200 RAM (3x 512MB)
Gigabyte SiS motherboard (can't remember the chipset)

I have tons of parts laying around too - I'm about to build another PC for a friend of mine with the spare P4, 9800XT and all that I have.

Yeah, I'm obsessed with computers :P

Only problem I have with the ATI fglrx driver (the Linux ATI driver) is it's slower in certain areas for games. The only game I play at the moment is UT2004, it runs faster than Windows in most areas but others it'll be slower.

hmmm...ok...sounds shifty...they should be developing more linux friendly drivers, considering so many people are running towards opensource...
